Re: Avg price not in suggest price range anymore
Suggested price is calculated using this formula :AVG(cheapest 35% items) * 0.8 Suggested high is the above number * 1.2 Avg is just the math avg which is about the 50% tile while the suggested price is about 30% tile If you want item to sell in reasonable amount of time the suggested price should be your friend. If you dont mind item listing the item for couple weeks or even couple months for maximum profit then you might want the average one. All depends on your personal preference. |

Re: Re: Avg price not in suggest price range anymore
thanks a lot for the clarification! I had no idea that suggested price is based only on the cheapest 30 or 35%. I guess this also explains why there is no suggested price shown when only a few items are listed... However, I still wonder why the average is sometimes more than twice of the suggested price. Must be the greedy people who will probably never sell their overpriced items... |

Anyone finding that running the TTC client.exe isn't posting items to trade immediately?
Yes, I'm reloading UI prior to doing so. TTC used to post trade straight away but mine are getting posted up to 24hrs later which isn't really helpful. |

I post items to trade, wait a few minutes, reload UI then run TTC desktop client (I'm signed in) and... nothing. I get: HH:MM You have the latest version of the item price table HH:MM TTC localization google sheet (https://goo.gl/q6****) <-- not sure if URL is personal to me so redacted here. A day later, I'll run it again and the items finally get posted plus some that were posted via the client days earlier. Something's up. I have tried reinstalling both the Add-on and the desktop client.

TTC will only refresh the last seen timestamp whenever you open up the guild store interface and navigate to your guild's listing tab. This is due to the ZOS guild history data change which TTC can no longer reliably figure out if the item has been sold or not. If you havent open the store interface since last upload then reload UI won't upload anything since the data is pretty much the same as last time. Also there is a 5 second delay before the client start uploading just to give ESO client enough time to finish writting to the file. |

Hey guys. I play ESO on Linux via Steam Proton. Got all my addons installed, but couldn't get the client for TamrielTradeCentre to work under WINE. So I came up with a solution I'd like to share with other players on Linux. I made a simple bash script that downloads the zip file from TTC's website, unzips the files to the TTC addon directory, then deletes the zip file it downloaded. Here's the script, very simple and doesn't require any admin privileges, but you need to have the unzip package installed:
Code:
wget https://us.tamrieltradecentre.com/download/PriceTable unzip -o PriceTable -d "$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/306130/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/AddOns/TamrielTradeCentre/" rm PriceTable |

Mean vs. Median
I'm no statistician, but I have to admit some curiosity as to why the addon uses average price as opposed to median price.
I vaguely recall being told that median is less skewed by severe outliers, which seems to be a favored tactic for some of the more blatant attempts at market manipulation. |

Re: Mean vs. Median
Those people were very assertive and blatantly... I can't think of a good word that I could put in the forums. Simply put they have a great deal of knowledge and someone with zero knowledge they remind you that statistics has a purpose. To them nothing should ever ever ever ever ever ever be removed from a data set for any reason whatsoever unless you can mathematically prove why it should be removed. To them if you cannot articulate why with mathematical proof you don't know what you're talking about and you shouldn't be doing it. Since this is a game and there's an intended purpose for showing a price using the average or the mean or the median or trimming an outlier I just do it anyway. I'm not trying to solve real-world problems. However as much statistics as I have used to try and help with people that skew prices, it simply will not stop it. What is the saddest thing to me though is that if the people wanting the price to go up would simply put a legitimate sale up for the item and sell it at the price they want the price would trend upward naturally. Take for example all of the jewelry crafting things like chromium grains. It would be rare if not nonexistent that someone would put up a price that isn't going to be something they're going to sell it for. So if you look at a scatter plot for jewelry crafting items everything trends up nicely over 90 days or however many days you are viewing. The problem is people have an intention for posting those ridiculous prices. They might just want people to undersell so they can buy it cheap and sell it for more later. They could just want to make a bunch of money and they want everybody to think it's more valuable than it is. I could go on and on. I spent many weeks trying to figure things out and I can honestly say that really isn't much you can do.
