I've retired from ESO and I am relying on code contributions for maintenance: GitHub Repo

A continuation of Atropos' Foundry Tactical Combat. This is an updated version of Demiknight's patch. The change log has more info, main changes below:

Added the option to show @names in place of character names when in a group (shown in the attached image) or when targeting someone.

Added a keybind for refreshing the group frame. Despite the addon's attempts to the contrary, sometimes it will fail to load a group member(s). This will force an unobtrusive refresh so that you don't have to /reloadui to fix it.

Added the ability to disable healing logs/text out of combat or at all times. Individual options for combat log and scrolling text.

Solinur updated buff tracking.

Well to me that's pretty through but to most users that means they have all the mods installed they want installed but only have the one active they are testing with. That's not really one mod alone. So to me FTC alone and no addons is only three folders.

Also some people love to change things while the game is running and for fonts you can't do that. So if you make a new folder and install the three things you need and still have the issue it's system related. You caused it by doing something you felt would be neat or make things look better or just simply trying to fix what you thought was a mod issue.

What you are experiencing seems more like a mod changed the font outside of the LUA. You can disable all the mods you want and it won't matter. Because you really can't have any issue like that if I don't. FTC doesn't even change the chat window or the fonts at all. So something else is altering them. Even in xml you can specify fonts and backup fonts. A non standard language mod like Korean or something unofficial could be altering fonts with game files that load before you get to the character screen. Just disabling a mod the game still loads other files if it fits the criteria.

So when you test that, you need to make another addons folder. If you still have the issue then if you can't change PC settings then what else could it be? I use American English. I don't change the language and region settings. If you choose something other then the default then set it back to the default until it works. Then if you set it to whatever you want and you can't see the arrows then don't use that language setting. It's messing with the default fonts somehow. You could have even installed a font that causes the issue.

Which is why I can't troubleshoot those kinds of things.
You have given me some food for thought.

Tomorrow I will spool up another W10 VM (newly spooled up VMs the way I set up the host default to English US language settings, including keyboard layout etc), install ESO 'fresh', then install FTC and the dependencies and test.

I presume I will get the same results as yourself. If that's the case I will change the language settings to English UK and try again.

If still cannot reproduce the error I will start adding add-ons one at a time.

When I tested without any other addons I can't remember if I did so renaming the addons and SV folders - my usual method - or just disabling them once loaded.

Can't really isolate if one is unsure of one's own methods - I did this 'test' more than a year ago, that as far as my memory is concerned is wild country now.

At least is a start

It is pretty obscure and not even remotely game breaking, not even 'game affecting' unless you are me; two of my guildies also use FTC and they hadn't even noticed the glitch (the screenshot is not mine, is from one of them).

At least where is exclusively a 'me' problem it doesn't just happen to me when something 'obscure' happens only to oneself one starts wondering 'is this actually happening or am I losing my marbles here?'

I have messed with the language settings on the underlying OS ad nauseam to no avail so yeah, guilty as charged, I did think that there was a chance that an author might have seen this before or at least 'ring a bell' for them.

Either way I appreciate you going out of your way to test and reply to me, thank you

You are aware that there is a UI bug for buffs like your food and XP buff, right? It doesn't allow the internal ZOS functions to obtain the buff information. So there is nothing I can do about that.

It's something on your end. I can copy paste those chars into guild chat or whisper myself. I don't normally troubleshoot things like that anyway because it's too obscure. People think oh well if I tell an author they must have seen this issue at some point and know some kind of random obscure way to resolve it. I don't.

Good afternoon beautiful people

I posted this maybe a year or two ago however now with fresh eyes around someone might have an inkling on why this happens and perhaps how to fix it.

Is a very minor thing but over the years has become a bit of a nag.

With FTC - and even with FTC alone installed with no other addons whatsoever beyond the two required libraries - the arrow characters in the chat log become the square character.

However if one pastes the arrow characters on the text box the squares turn into arrows again.

This is an example, because they say that an image is worth a 1000 words:

This is the output of 'loot log' but to reiterate, this happens with only FTC and dependencies loaded as well; I tried sending 'myself' a whisper from one of my alt accounts, I sent ← ↑ → ↓ and received ▢ ▢ ▢ ▢.

Either way as I said above is a very minor thing in the great scheme of things, but if someone has insight to share on how remedy this that would be awesome.

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right forum. On all my "Alts" except new arcanist I see my buffs, including food,xp in the long buff area (far right for me). Any ideas how to fix this please?

As most addons hardcoded the "classes", and the new Arcanist class might break it thus now if you play one, the addons need updates to either hardcode the next "Arcanist" class or maybe even someone could change them to be working dynamically now (as ZOs added more API functions to get class specific details like icon, name, etc. meanwhile).

You need to wait for an update that adds this new arcanist class icons and data etc.
Or: Antisenil alreay provided the infos how to maually update the files on your own, with an easy "search" and "replace" instruction.
Should be doable without any coding skills too. Just search the filename mentioned in the live/AddOns/FoundryTacticalCombat folder and edit the file where the instructions tell you to do so.

I've downloaded the addon and changed the /character/functions.lua file according to the instructions, so here you can download it if you do not want to manually change it by your own:

FTC not working for new Charachters

This update works with all of my other characters, but I cannot get FTC to work on my new Arcanist character.

I’ve updated all addons, but for whatever reason, FTC will not load on a new character even though it still works on my old ones.

FTC doesn't work on the liveserver for my arcanist. I saw some of you guys were posting some strings, but I'm a bit lost where to put them or if it's still accurate to add them since you were talking before about the PTS.

Is there any fix to make the health/mag/stam bars and the target-enemy frame work again?

I didn't attempt to use FTC on this [now-over] round of the PTS, but I did have an issue with the two new
characters I created this morning on Live, after the U38 patch -- FTC wasn't recognizing their data.
(It was working for existing characters, though.)

So I just made the changes you detailed below, but on the Live side, and that fixed the issue.

Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\pts\AddOns\FoundryTacticalCombat\character

The whole function is obsolete as there is GetUnitClass(), which does the same.
so change
