Description

Distributing your CP to optimize your DPS can be a rather complicated affair. While browser based CP calculators are available, they still require you to get a parse, analyse it and enter the data manually.

This addon aims to simplify this process by automatically reading a Combat Metrics parse and enter all data automatically.

It then attempts to calculate a better CP distribution and shows your original and new damage factor.

Instructions:
  • Open Combat Metrics or the Champion Point Menu. The Constellations window will then open as well.
  • On the first tab in Constellations you need to enter the ratios of the various types of Damage you cause.
  • If you want to import a parse from Combat Metrics, browse to a fight and press the import button in the Constellations Window.
  • Don't forget to adjust your "Damage Bonus %" value, as this isn't determined automatically.
  • You can also select units (e.g. only the boss) in Combat Metrics so damage to other targets gets neglected.
  • Alternatively you can enter everything manually.
  • On the second tab you can edit the original CP composition. For new Combat Metrics Parses (since 0.7.4 on 20th of June) the CP composition is saved, so it will be restored on import. Otherwise your current CP distribution is preset.
  • When everything is set, press the calculate button on the 2nd tab.
  • If the new damage factor is higher (indicated by green text color) a better CP distribution has been found.

Current Limitations:
  • The addon can not automatically detect your Damage Done values. You need to set it yourself.
  • The addon can not set any CP's, you only get shown what would be optimal.
  • Some abilities may be missing from the database, which means they won't be automatically imported. A debug message will hint at these abilities. Please report them here, so I can implement them in the future.

  • When one of the investigated CP combinations fulfills requirements for the exploiter passive, it will now be attributed with the appropriate result that includes the (averaged) damage bonus.
  • The uptime of the required Off-Balance buff will be read from the imported data but can also be set on the first page. Default is the current maximum uptime. Keep in mind that in order to precisely attribute the effect, a reasonable estimation of "Damage Bonus %" on the first page is required.
  • The way the optimization works, does not always lead to it being checked. In order to force exploiter to be checked, you can set minimum and maximum poits in Thaumaturge to 75.

You need some amount of insight into the game. There are a lot of things that can contribute to this. There are skills like Engulfing Flames that increase damage for fire skills. There is minor and major slayer, that contrribute to that. You basically need to account for all sources of "increases Damage by XXX%". Due to the diverse nature of potential bonuses I couldn't automate this. However, the standard 30% should be a good starting value for fully buffed raid scenarios.

In the end changing this value will shift potency of certain stars only very slightly. Additionally similar sets of jump point optimized CP distributions will also change the outcome very slightly. So in the end you don't need to worry if that value is not super exact.

When you currently play with cp some of your damage will be increased more than other damage fractions. So the input ratios are biased. "account for old Champion points" uses the old CP distribution to correct for that bias.

When you import from Combat Metrics it uses the CP information that was stored for that fight in its dataset. Otherwise your current CPs are entered.
So only in a situation where you enter the damage distribution manually, you should make sure to input the corresponding CP's to ensure an appropriate bias correction.

I'll have a look at the butcher passive. However things like that are hard to implement.

For the occasions where it leads to a slightly suboptimal result I don't have a solution. Without literally trying all possible combinations (which would hang the client) I don't now how to optimize the current method to a point which reliably leads to the best result. The reason is that the best result is so heavily influenced by the jumppoints and whether you can squeeze out some extra benefit by selecting jump points in a way where the overhead (e.g. 0.3% if a allocation of points yields 16.3%) is minimal allowing to gain an overall extra bonus.

In the end the gain is anyway so small that there is the question if it is worth to go so deep down into the optimization.

Edit: I'll update the slider to 200k of course.

I'll have a look at the butcher passive. However things like that are hard to implement.

Hello this seems like a great addon, but I have a few little issues with it atm:

- Max DPS is set to 100k, this patch its possible to deal way more than that even single target.

- I have a feeling it doesn't account for the butcher passive as it tries to take points out of it for me.

- If I prevent it from changing my penetration values it calculates a new CP configuration that deals less DPS.
