Out of curiosity, let's suppose this becomes the new best thing since sliced bread and everyone starts using it. Where do trade guilds fit in the picture?

Who cares? Other than the trade guilds? Besides, those players could use this system along with what they have already. Seriously, though, something like this can only help improve ESO's trade system.... The game should have had a universal single entity trading system since the game went live. What we have in ESO is a step backwards in MMO trade systems. As far as I am concerned ESO's trade system is junk. I have ALWAYS hated it. In other MMOs I buy stuff off the auction house regularly. In ESO I do not buy anything. I ignore the guild traders. Well, except I steal everything I can from them quite often. Seems it more discourages community trading than encourages it. One can't help but think this system limits traders abilities to make more money. I have high hopes for an addon like this. Here are some of the things I find to be just plain wrong. You can't sell stuff in an auction unless you belong to a guild? -Bad... A guild has to have a minimum number of members to have a trader? -Bad... You have to bid on a trader location in order to get a good spot to sell stuff? -Bad... Your sales will be looow due to bad trader location? -Bad... If you want to do reliable trading you need to be in a big trading guild? -Bad... No price comparisons server wide? -Bad... You have to travel all over the place to see traders and compare prices? --OMG! BAD... You have to rely upon a non ESO website to track game wide prices? -Wrong in so many ways. You have to rely upon a non ESO addon to do what a game wide auction system would do? -Triple Dog Bad. Play the game for the fun content? Not a trader at heart? Forget getting a guild that has a good trader location. Thus your sales opportunities will be small. Trust me, been there... Want to sell stuff to others, but don't play every day and sell a ton of stuff? Forget getting in a guild with a good trader location....they don't want you. Don't want to be in a guild that charges 5 or 6 digit dues monthly, even weekly, so they can pay for the bids to keep their trader location? Can't afford that fee? They don't want you. Due to real life you can't log in every day for auction manipulation and mandatory attendance --- because you can't play every day? They don't want you. You can't sell the minimum required $$ value per month (per week in some guilds) because you actually enjoy the content? You guessed it, they don't want you. Are you a casual player that wants to take advantage of the ability to sell stuff to other players without using chat channels to sell it? Good luck, ESO's system is not designed for you. Sadly ESO's trader system favors those people who love to be a trader in an MMO. It does not favor the rest of the player base. Which could be slightly detrimental to the trader people. I have no problem with people who get their enjoyment from being a trader. Everyone has their favorite play mode and style. I see nothing wrong with their play style. People should be able to sell stuff via auction without having to deal with the trader guild membership rules, requirements, and song & dance. Addons like this one are a step in the right direction. ESO's trader system needs a serious overhaul. Also. I am simply stating my opinion in replay to a question. I did not and do not intend to get into a philosophical argument over how wrong I may or may not be per someone else's opinion. |

We're clearly in the opposing trenches here, but thank you for at least taking your time and explaining your points. More than a few of them are valid, and I can add some from my side as well - guild management UI being non-existent outside of mods, for instance - but you seem to forget that there is a large portion of players who actually enjoy how current system (or at least parts of it) works, and would describe what you called "bad" as "fun". Hunting for items and bargains, visiting guild kiosks, learning how to trade efficiently, learning how to run a successful trade guild - this is a game within a game, really, and people who love it wouldn't be too happy if everyone just quit and went for an addon instead. Just something to consider - as you said yourself, why not both, it might just work. Another thing that worries me is how the devs might react. After all, the system we now have is what they intended for the game (no matter how clunky it might be), and they probably have their reasons - they will probably have to react eventually, and knowing ZOS, it will likely result in us having to deal with even more broken mechanics than we have now. EDIT: Now, the crafting order system about to be included in this addon is definitely something which is LONG overdue. Shame on ZOS. Cheers!

I am so glad you understood what I was saying. I really, truly was just stating my view point. I read this post later and thought I may have sounded pissy. It was not my intent. ESO has so many good things. The trader part just bugs me to death. And you are right. Some people LOVE the hustle and bustle of getting and keeping a good trader and all the goings on that surrounds it all. I've been in guilds like that. Left them, too, because I found all the sell, sell, sell hype to be a huge annoyance. And paying guild dues to help feed the monster was simply not fun. But then everyone has their own choice of fun. Life would be boring if we were all the same. To some people the game is all about the marketing aspect. Nothing wrong with that. I find it boring, but still, nothing wrong with it. I just want to buy and sell stuff when I need to or feel like it without a bunch of complexity. In and out, like dealing with the fence, banker, vendor, etc. This trading system doesn't support that, sadly. Pretty much I vendor everything I can't use or don't think I will in the future. Which is unhelpful to other players that could use some of that stuff. I play in spurts due to health issues so keeping a guild membership that has a trader up is pretty much not happening. I've been kicked with "you were inactive for too long" mails in my box. Even when I informed them I was going to be gone for a while and told it was OK. If ZOS added a tool that showed all sales server wide and where the trader was located it would make buying so much easier. They would not need to allow buying from the tool, just show you where to go. This would also add a competition aspect to the "trading game" due to price comparison across traders. Of course, there would be those who wouldn't like that type of price competition. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact I won't be selling through a trader in EOS. Or buying for the most part.... The trader mechanic is so frustrating I actually quit playing for quite a while due to it. I went and played other MMOs that don't make trading a huge chore. EOS is fun, that's why I still come back to play, but the buy/sell mechanic is a huge annoyance. I consider this trading system to be more archaic than that of EverQuest 1. Here the traders are standing all over the world rather than in the same room like EQ1. It was better in that game because anyone could sell and you could search for items across all the vendors. Oh well, it is what it is.... Cheers. |

Tried this for several weeks. It's a fantastic idea and well implemented. I finally decided to drop it because pretty much everything up for sale was being sold at exorbitant prices, and my items didn't sell even when priced well below MM/TTC rates. I think this add-on suffers only because of a lack of adoption, made worse by greedy people driving away would-be users. It's too bad because I think it's a great add-on, in terms of both design and implementation. Something that is sorely needed due to ZOS's very messed up trading system & weekly trader blind-bid. Kudos to the author though!

Really cool idea and I like the new interface; very well integrated and professional.
I was wondering if it might be possible to support posting trades directly from your bank? If not does the addon care what character has the item at the time of fulfillment? So in other words, could I post an item, drop it in the bank, then grab it on whatever character I happened to be on at the time in order to fulfill the order? Thanks for you work on this project! |

It does not matter what character you are on and will work account wide. this setting will even display which character listed the item for sale in the sold items tab: press ESC->Settings->Addons->Nirn Auction House there is a setting (Show my player name on orders to fulfill) thanks for your feedback -Elo |
