AlphaGear 2 (Builds, Gear, Skills, Banking)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 6.17.0
by: mesota [More]
Anything you need to manage your skills and gear.
I've adopted this great AddOn from AlphaLemming and changed the name to "AlphaGear 2" for the version that I maintain.

AlphaGear 2 lets you create up to 20 profiles each with 16 builds that may be activated with a single button press. Each build consists of
  • 7 pieces of armor
  • 3 pieces of jewelry
  • 2 weapon bars including poison
  • 2 skill bars
  • 1 outfit or
  • 1 style (outfit, costume, pet etc. using AlphaStyle integration) (optional)
  • 1 FCO Item Saver gear icon (optional)
  • 1 Champion Point Set using Champion Points Slots add-on (optional)

Please backup your AlphaGear settings prior update!

To users of AlphaGear 3
AG 3 is a branch of AG 2 by another developer. It isn't maintained anymore. If you want to switch back to AG 2, just make a backup of your SavedVariables, uninstall AG 3 and install AG 2.
Your builds will then be available in AG 2.

Now available: Integrations!

Known Issues
  • Updating a version prior 6.x with minion doesn't seem to work. Workaround: Delete the .../AddOns/AlphaGear directory and reinstall AlphaGear 2. Don't delete anything from .../SavedVariables. AlphaGear 2 will reuse your already created sets.

  • 5.1 (Scalebreaker) = "8"
  • 5.2 (Dragonhold) = "9"
  • 5.3 (Harrowstorm) = "10" (never made it to release)
  • 6.0 (Greymoor) = "11" (never made it to release)

  • 7.2 (Deadlands) = "15"
  • 7.3 (Ascending Tide) = "16"
  • 8.0 (High Isle) = "17"

Patch: Increases with every fixed bug or enhancement within a minor version.

Re: Re: Unable to swap skills when incorrectly *thinks* i'm in combat.

Update: I have retested. Alpha Gear 2 will only swap equipment but not skills when; I don't know what to call it; the combat state/flag is active. I can still go to my skills and swap them manually. I tested side by side with another gear/skill swap addon and gear and skills successfully swapped. I was incorrect to say the game sees me as in combat. For example, I don't have the edge effect while in inventory, etc but some addons that try to track combat state like Combat Reticle still think I am in combat.

AlphaGear 2 would not allow me to swap my skills until I left the city I was in, engaged in combat, then left combat.

I've used another gear/skill swap addon that just attempts the swap and leaves it to the game to decide if it would allow it or not. Could AG2 function like this, please? Thank you.
If the game has you recorded as "in combat", it would be impossible to have this happen: the functions required to change equipment, etc, are classified as "protected". That means that the ESO client will block any attempt by the addon to use them while in combat.

Strange. Works for me as expected. I'll have a look into the code...

One thing that would be nice to have is that while levelling up, to assign a skill set for the things I want to focus on at this time, without having to have them on my front bar -- or my back one.

For example, to build up a healing "offset" bunch of skills, it would be nice to have them get quest XP when I don't particularly want them on my bar full time.

I can use hotkeys to switch, but honestly, I'm ... not good at remembering to do that. I'm sure y'all can relate.

So, two questions:

1. Would you consider adding a feature, if possible, to make that switch automatically?
2. Is there an API that I can use to have a separate addon switch profile with AG2, so I maintain the hard parts, and just use your switching logic?
I'm not sure I understand.
You want to activate a special "leveling action bar" wich is only active while you complete a quest?
Yes, that is correct. Skills on the bar gain experience while active at quest completion, so putting things I want to level (eg: off-heal or off-tank skills) there and they will gain some experience. Skills on my "normal" bars will gain it in combat, etc.

However I have some simple feature request/feedback

1. Open Alphagear 2 based on which UI you have open. For example, open alphagear 2 when I open my skills window.
2. Simplified set making. One click should fill in currently used gear and skill sets. (Unless I missed this!)
3. Transparency setting for the alphagear 2 UI elements.

First two are features from Dressing Room while last one is personal preference to match the rest of my UI setup.

Thank you again for this. Works great
I'll add #1 to the wish list. Not sure if I'd like AG2 to pop up every time, I open the skills window. Have to think about it.
#2 and #3 are already on the wish list.

Made the switch over from Dressing Room and overall while your addon performs differently the idea is the same; mostly needed the compatibility.

Works great

G'day. AlphaGear is pretty useful to me, allowing me to swap sets and stuff.

UPDATE: I just tested it out on PTS and everything still functions as normal and I didn't have any LUA errors or anything even after trying the new skill respec feature.
Thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind.

I have this on the wish list (see change log). But no promises and no timeline
