Urich's Skill Point Finder  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 7.1.0
by: fritzOSU03, Onigar, tim99, yachoor
Description
Have you ever been in a situation where you need more skill points but you have no idea where to get them? Well today is your lucky day! Urich's Skill Point Finder provides a graphical interface showing all of the skill points you have (and haven't) earned throughout the entire game. You can show or hide the window by binding a hotkey or by entering the slash command. Slash command information is below.

Please Note
From Version 5.1.0 you need to separately install: LibTableFunctions-1.0 and LibAddonMenu-2.0

Localization
Localization for Russian, German, French, and Japanese is included. I speak only English so I am very sorry if a translation is incorrect. My only available source was Google Translate. Please message me if you see a translation that can be improved or shortened where space is an issue. Also feel free to provide a complete translation for another language if you would like to see it added to a future update.

Slash Commands
  • /uspf - Show or hide the USPF window.
  • /uspf help - Display help information in the chat window.
Known Issues/Complications
  1. The Folium Discognitum is a scroll that awards two skill points on use. Because the Folium is a scroll and not a book, it is not possible to determine if if you have earned those points besides comparing the number of earned skill points with the number of expected skill points + 2. There is an override in the settings menu if this information is not correct for your character.
  2. There are skill points awarded upon completion of tutorial quests for Morrowind and following chapters characters. If you skip the quest you'll get the skill point but the addon will not be able to determine that. There are override options in the settings menu for these skill points if this information is not correct for your character.

Thanks for keeping this great helper alive! Very appreciated.

In case you haven't read this info posted by ZOs_DanBatson, this might come in handy detecting Skyshards:

I'll try the impossible and create a support ticket about it, I don't really expect them to fix it on my character though.

In the end I guess it is not about a single skill point but the inconsistency. For instance if you knew where the issue was in the game ( I assume this addon is no longer a suspect ) then you would be quite happy to repeat whatever. Well I certainly would.

So perhaps in your support ticket if they find the discrepancy the easiest for Zos may be to just reset that quest. Just my thoughts. Anyway gl

Chill out, I was referring to this part:

And yes, I'm looking at a mod that someone created but as I also wrote, I've gone over every single entry that's listed on the USPF UI, one by one, and it's all correct. I checked with other sources of information on available skill points. I have done exactly those activities (all story quests, all skyshards, 9 AW ranks, no Folium Discognitum, not a chapter character, all 24 public dungeon group events, 29 group dungeon quests) that are listed there so the 388 skill points I should have are correct, and yet when I reset every skill point I had only 387 to spend. I literally spent at least 1 hour ingame just checking all of these things to make sure the addon lists the correct amount of skill points. And it apparently does.

You should read what I said again. Zenimax does not loose points. They can't. The calculate the amount of spent points when you request a refund of skill points. Then that amount is returned to you. The points didn't mysteriously disappear, they aren't buried, or whatever other crazy mojo you can think of. They are not gone.

You are looking at a mod that someone created to assist you in finding skill points. Also as I mentioned Zenimax does not provide ANY way for mod authors to calculate the exact amount of skill points and their sources because that is not provided.

So again, regardless of any discrepancies, don't be nitpicky about it. Zenimax is not cheating you out of any points. The author can not make it 100% accurate because Zenimax does not provide the tools to do so.

You reminded me QuadroTony.

Re: Re: Re: Incorrect skill point count (higher than actual)

Yeah, already mentioned below, I have 387 according to SpentSkillPoints too. Just to be sure I got Vampirism again and I had no skill points spent there, so no idea where that 1 comes from (or where it went).

I even added it all up just to make sure and the totals on USPF are correct, yet somehow there is that 1 difference. So it must be really lost somewhere as Sharlikran said, I just don't know where or why. Could be from when they reset the racial passives due to changes, idk.

Zenimax does not really allow us any access to know what skill points have been found. I asked for a way to iterate over skill points and was given a courteous, no. Really the same as Bethesda would tell me for most things.

Basically when they need to reset skill points they iterate over how many you have spent, determine you spent x_amount_skill_points and then provide you with that amount. If you complained to Zenimax that you lost a skill point with their default eosui, they would have no way to know "where" the points came from.

They are using the most simple way to do what they need, rather then making an exact database of where the skill points came from to see how many you should have.

We want to know the source of the skill point to know where to go to get a skill point. They could care less about the source.

TLDR: Let the author that is taking over the mod see what he can do if anything. Otherwise don't be too nitpicky about it. Zenimax does not give authors any tools to be more accurate.

I add all of them up that are showing on the USPF sheet and it adds up to 388.

From the very first section I don't have Folium Discognitum, the three chapter character ones and Maelstrom Arena. I have 9 out of Alliance War ranks. Comes out to a total of 84. I have everything from Public Dungeons, Storylines and Skyshards. That's 24+100+151. I have 29 out of 40 for group dungeons. None of them are wrong, it only shows earned skill points for the dungeons I have done and skill points from all of the other content are correct as I've done all those quests and got all the skyshards. Total is 380 and currently I have 7 unspent.

Anyone experienced something like this? Is this what a Dragonbreak is like?
Could it account for an already spent skillpoint in the soul skill line?
Or maybe there's a skill point locked in vamp / WW that wasnt reset because it got cured?

Otherwise I think you'd have to look up in the code where it counts what and maybe adds +1 XD
I agree there can be an inconsistency in the skill point count of 1 and where a character has 1 more skill point than shown in the windows. I have been aware of this for a while and will look into it.

For me it is just on my newer characters. My older characters are fine and consistent.

It may be the Morrowind/Summerset/Elsweyr Character skill point that is assigned to the character but not being shown in the window.

But now to your point about the addon showing 1 skill point more than you have is new to me.

To keep track while playing I use addon: SpentSkillPoints

Could you please try with this addon and see what total skill points it gives for you.

Thanks

Re: Re: Incorrect skill point count (higher than actual)

I mean, it could be, I'm not sure. When I cured my WW I got all the points back. Then I leveled Vampire on that character for the achievement and cured it after giving a bite to someone so that 1 skill point could be stuck there. I thought they fixed that skill-point-getting-stuck-on-cure bug (as it gave me back all my skillpoints from WW line). Also I'm using SpentSkillPoints which I'm fairly sure checks spent skill points for things that might not be visible and it tells me I have 380 spent as well.

I know I could but I don't trust most of the resellers tbh. I know HB is okay so if Onigar contacts me for details, I'll go with that or Steam gift.
