I plan on adding this but I'm toying with the idea of making it part of the Guild settings (so, say, your guild leaders/officers can set this.) With a user-level override (something that, say, you could set regardless of guild config.)

You can still do this using the standard ESO Social settings, which is why it's not done by this add-on. Though I may add color pickers for things that ESO Social does not have any settings for, such as the Timestamp Color (which is currently being derived from the chat channel color you configured in ESO Social.)

How about just abbreviating longer guild name? For example, "The Knights who say Ni" could be shortened to, "KwsN". Or some other variant.

I have a question about a feature myself - is there any chance of being able to 'copy' from the chatbox? Or is that not possible/beyond the scope of this addon?

Edit: How about making the chat 'id' a single letter/number? So "Group" becomes "G" (or "P") and "Zone" becomes "Z" etc.

Going to second a need to shorten guild names. I'm in a few with long names, and being able to shorten them to two letters is great in being able to pay attention and read said guild chat.

You're welcome

Thanks for the fast response and update. It tried v1.5 today but sadly the problem still does exist. I still see the account name for the dash guy instead of his character name. I'm using the german game client, if that does matter.

Talking v1.6 - Guild Abbreviations

I've added support for guild abbrevations. These can be set by Guild Leader/Officers in the Guild Description, if set there this add-on will use the abbreviation specified. If NOT set, then a default will be used that is derived from the guild name. As with all other features, this can be turned off if the functionality is undesirable.

At some point in the future I'll make it user-configurable.

As for some player names not being properly substituted, I will make another pass at it, I do have a member with a dash in their name but they haven't been online for me to test. If people who are affected can get in touch with me in-game it would make fixing and testing go much more quickly. (Probably only take a few minutes to be honest.)

Enjoy!

Quite possibly, I'll look into it after I'm done optimizing existing code.

I was able to test with a few guild members today and this problem appears to be fixed in v1.8 (just uploaded), hope it works for you as well.

Enjoy!

Talking v1.11 - Chat Window Resizing

v1.11
- Chat Window can now be resized larger than the default limit allowed.

The max size was changed to 1800x1000, which should be sufficient for most players. Very handy, thanks for the suggestion

Enjoy

I'm not sure if this sort of thing is even possible, but would you be able to add an option for the chat window to automatically "hide" itself on login or reloading the UI?

It's really just a tiny quality of life setting for myself, because I find clicking the little arrow to manually hide the chat box every time annoying.

If It's not possible, that's fine.

I have a guild with a long one word name and hyphens and it doesn't abbreviate the name, other then that it's great how well this works.
