LovelyEmotes  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 4.27
by: ShinyBones [More]
This addon provides quick and easy access to emotes. (For mouse/keyboard users)

Aren't you tired of remembering each emote and typing its name into the chat? With this addon you can search a list of all available emotes and save up to 120 of your favorite emotes spread over 8 tabs. You can play emotes using a list, key bindings, or a radial/wheel menu.

I will improve the addon from time to time and add more features. If you have any problems, ideas or other feedback, feel free to let me know.
Thanks to all the people who helped me with comments to find bugs and improve this addon.

Depends on:
- LibAddonMenu

Features:
- Future emotes, categories and personalities are automatically added to the list
- Emote categories
- Supports all languages supported by ESO (translation of emotes, categories and personalities by ZeniMax)
- Fast and comfortable access to personalities
- Highlights emotes that are overridden by a personality
- Increase or decrease the number of favorites
- Radial quick menu to play your favorite emotes more comfortable
- Display localized names or slash names in the emote list (both in alphabetical order)
- Search bar: Search the emote list for a string to find your desired emote faster
- Synchronize emotes with other players (optional)
- Favorite commands: Add and play any available chat command as a favorite or in the emote list.
- Key bindings
- More in development...

Slash Commands:
- /letoggle (toggles the main window)
- /lesettings (opens the AddOn Settings menu)
- /lefavoritecommands (opens the favorite commands window)
- /lerandom (plays a random emote)

Favorite Commands:
In LovelyEmotes, you can add pretty much all the chat commands you want to use frequently as favorites.
To do this, open the favorite commands menu with the chat command "/lefavoritecommands". All chat commands added there will appear in the emote list under the category "Custom".
Note: When you select a command as a favorite, remember that a left click will also execute the command. Use the right mouse button for selection.

Modify Emotes:
In addition to the settings in the game, emotes themselves can also be configured through EmoteDataMod.lua file. Open the following file with a text editor and add the desired entries to the table:
LovelyEmotes/Modifications/EmoteDataMod.lua

In the same folder there is also a short manual to help you understand how it works.
Always remember to backup this file outside the "AddOns" folder because it will reset with each update.

Settings can be changed in the game under "Settings -> Addons -> LovelyEmotes".
Modify your key bindings under "Controls -> General -> LovelyEmotes".
See the pictures for a better overview of how this addon works.
For more information about new features, see the Change Log.

- Added setting to set the visibility of the minimized main window. Set the value less than 10 to hide the window instead of minimizing it.
- Support for character name changes.

Version 1.6.1:
- Fixed combat event bug.
- Refactoring

Version 1.6:
- Key bindings for favorites: You can assign a key for each selected favorite (up to 15 favorites can be selected). Even hidden favorites can still be played by pressing the set key.

Version 1.5.1:
- Added a keybind to toggle the main window (again and now forever).

Version 1.5:
- Highlight selected favorites: Whenever the emote list opened, the selected favorite button is highlighted to give you a better overview of which favorite to be replaced.
- I have decided to remove the keybind for toggling the main window. Instead, I added an additional setting in the "Addons" menu to toggle the main window using the ESO's own "Toggle In-Game Cursor" keybind. The main window expands and the mouse becomes visible at the same time. This is probably the more convenient solution. (Disabled by default)

Version 1.4:
- Added a keybind to toggle the main window (can be found under "Controls -> General -> LovelyEmotes").
- Fixed: Some button textures and sounds.

Version 1.3:

- Added an option to start minimized (disabled by default).

Version 1.1:
- Minimizes in combat and shows up again when you leave the fight (enabled by default). Has no effect if the window is minimized by the player.
This is optional and can be disabled in the menu "AddOn Settings".

emote cooldown

Please add a cooldown to using emotes via keybinds. People are using this addon to spam emotes literally every second in populated areas.

Re: Wonderful Addon - Feature Requests?

Hello kleinlowe,

thank you for your really good ideas.

For the first part, I'm afraid I have to tell you that this would indeed only be possible via many workarounds and not in a clean way. For example, there is no way to query the duration of emotes. There is also still no method that I know of for interrupting emotes.

Regarding the second part: There is already an addon with which you can change the idle animation. It is called "Custom Idle Animation" and is compatible with LovelyEmotes. However, I don't know if it has all the features you want. If this is not the case (and I eventually find the time to complete the revision of LovelyEmotes) we could see if emotes after certain actions can be implemented satisfactorily as an extension.

Wonderful Addon - Feature Requests?

I apologize, first, if these abilities is already present and I've been too dense to notice it -

First, I would love to be able to access personality-exclusive emotes with one click/command. For instance, if one has the Telvanni Magister personality equipped, they could click a shortcut and select the Dutchess Preen emote, then go back to Magister when the emote ended or was cancelled.

Even if automatically resetting the personality would be too technically challenging, I would greatly appreciate having a function to switch personalities and engage an emote without multiple clicks or commands.

Secondly, it would be neat to be able to set an emote as 'default idle'. I'm not familiar enough with ESO's client to know how much of the user's input is easily exposed to addon, but I would love to be able to have an emote play automatically when I stopped walking/running. Ah, I'm so tired from running around I automatically go /breathless!

Anyway, thank you for your hard work, this addon has been great and continues to be so. :3

Hi Umbreon5,

awesome!
I already have an idea how to integrate this features as an option. I'm currently working on gradually reworking and improving existing features. But I am confident that I will find time for this in the next few updates.

Hmm. First option is definitely not for me as it would feel off to have to press a button and then bring up the radial menu separately to make it show the emote list I want.
Second option sounds just about right. I'll give it a try sometime soon, thanks. But it definitely would be sweet to see this as a proper built-in feature.

Hello Umbreon5,

the wheel menu displays the selected emotes or commands of the currently selected tab. Binding the wheel menu to a separate/fixed tab is not currently intended.

What you can do to achieve something similar is to set the number of tabs to 2 in the LovelyEmotes settings. In one tab, select the emotes you want to use via keybindings. In the other tab, select the emotes you want to use in the wheel menu.

Now you have two options:

1. In the menu for keybindings, bind one of the two entries that cycle through the tabs (it is called "Next Tab" or "Previous Tab"). This way you can quickly switch back and forth between the tabs even if the wheel menu is already shown.

2. You can hack the functionality in (not tested).
Navigate to the LovelyEmotes folder and open the "RadialMenu.lua" file, which is located in the "Files" folder.
- Replace line 91 with "LovelyEmotes.MainWindow.ShowFavoriteEmotesTab(2)".
- Add "LovelyEmotes.MainWindow.ShowFavoriteEmotesTab(1)" to line 105.
In the game, always leave the first tab selected and use your keybindings to play the emotes. If you now open the wheel menu, the second tab should now be selected and displayed. When you close it again, it selects tab 1.

I have made a note of your request and will see if I can implement it in a meaningful way in a future release.

Is there any way to keep a set of emotes specifically for the Radial menu?
Basically I want to have ~10 emotes readily available via a keybind then others only available via a radial menu.

Hey,

I guess I'm a bit late. /feedbird and /sworddance from the newest ones are also looped.

Hi.

For a future update:

Lua Code:
  1. ["/banneraldmeri"] = { HasLoop = true, },
  2. ["/bannercovenant"] = { HasLoop = true, },
  3. ["/bannerebonheart"] = { HasLoop = true, },
  4. ["/qanun"] = { HasLoop = true, },
  5. ["/ragnarthered"] = { HasLoop = true, },

Hello Nerradin,

I have already tried to reproduce this issue. And unfortunately I could not trigger such an issue, nor could I trace it back to LovelyEmotes. Therefore, I would stick to the point of view that this is triggered by another addon. To narrow down the problem, you should check whether your addons are up to date and whether such errors are described in their discussions. Otherwise, you can deactivate your addons and activate them one by one, then play for a while and activate the next one if no problems occur. I'm sorry I can't help you with anything else for now. If you have found the source of this issue, please let me know. Then I'll take a look at it.

In the text, the last section describes that the character keeps looking in a certain direction as soon as you stop. I also had this problem a long time ago. However, this problem occurred quite randomly in different situations and only a restart helped. I never found out exactly why. But it has nothing to do with LovelyEmotes. What has changed is that I have massively reduced the number of addons I use.

Edit: Are you perhaps using an addon that hides error messages (such as "Suppress Error Message")? If the camera is locked and an error occurs, the camera remains locked even after "/reloadui".

What's even more disturbing is that reloading the UI doesn't fix it, I have to reopen the game... Sometimes this can be fixed by spamming the shortcut I set up for opening the wheel untill it does appear, or by relogging in and trying to open up the wheel, opening the wheel and it appearing this time fixes the lookaround option, but rarely happens, most of the times I have to reopen the game. Hope this will be fixed soon, It's a pretty major deal... Or maybe it's only happening to me, any idea how I can fix this if this is the case? Otherwise, thank you for this addon, it really is awesome, easy to use, and the interface is nice.

Coming with an update... Also... another thing I noticed after getting the lookaround to work without shutting off the game and reopening it (I did it just by relogging on the character, and then the radial wheel opened up) is that for some reason, when moving around, when the character stops, it will instantly turn back to one direction, it will not stop facing the direction I was going, no matter the direction I am going, the character will result in facing the same direction when I stop moving... This makes it hard to interact with resource nodes/quest markers, and often interacting doesn't even work. I made a short clip of this last bug, I can share it with you if you want.
Having the same problem. Had to quit my trial because of it.
