AutoInvite  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.5.0
by: Sasky, Ayantir, silentgecko
Overview

Simple auto-invite addon - intended for use in Cyrodiil to quickly setup a group invite string without diving into menus. Since expanded to be a part of the group tab, but original slash commands still exist for quickly turning on and off.

Features
  • Slash commands to quickly enable or disable inviting, and regrouping
  • Stop sending invites when reach group limit
  • Change the group limit (when to stop invites)
  • Options panel as separate tab in group menu
  • Settings (except for actually running) are saved between loads
  • Option to only invite players in Cyrodiil (for guild invites)
  • Option to restart invite after someone leaves group
  • Option to auto-kick members after set amount of time offline
  • Button to re-form the group
  • Keybindings to reinvite or regroup the group

Localization
Translations have been provided by the following people
  • French - Provision
  • German - silentgecko
  • Japanese - Lionas
  • Russian - ForgottenLight

Usage
Open the group menu and there is a tab (far right) for AutoInvite settings. Set the invite string and any other settings then check enable. Now anyone who types that message (exactly) in chat will have an invite sent.

Alternatively you can use the slash commands to quickly start/stop and for when you want to start/stop without opening any menus.

Known Issues/Limitations
  • The regroup function doesn't work well through group leader bug.
  • Queue display is not in-order for position in queue.
  • No right click on the mini-group (for kick, travel to, etc).
  • Sometimes the mini-group list on the AutoInvite tab doesn't update properly. There is a button included to force an update if that's the case.

Slash commands
These are for very quick access or for debugging purposes.
  • /ai - Turn off AutoInvite. Emergency stop button of sorts
  • /ai foo - Set string to 'foo' and start inviting
  • /aidebug - Turn on debug logging to chat window. Note: this can be rather verbose.

Example
You're a raid leader and have some spots to fill.
  1. Type /ai xx in chat message to start listening for 'xx' message in chat
  2. Advertise yourself in chat ("Type xx for Bleakers raid group")
  3. Sit back and let the addon manage sending invites

I do read the ESOUI forum threads fairly regularly (which are even better for that sort of thing), but that issue wasn't really mentioned. I don't actually use a settings menu (it's put as a separate tab for the in-game menu), and almost all of controls are created by using the underlying controls in LAM2 (not LAM1 or custom). Furthermore, this is a straight-up bug in the ESO Lua code because it doesn't handle the NIL case like it did previously. That thread has 0 relevance to fixing the bug.

Thanks Mokwhy for the error message. I didn't really have enough information to fix before that.

Mouseover issue should be fixed.

Technical details:
It was related to a couple lines where it was using Zenimax handler on the two buttons (for refresh list and re-form group). There was no tooltip text set, so it threw an error. Prior to 1.5 it just did nothing if there wasn't a tooltip, but the 1.5 update messed up the NIL fallback check. I just removed the tooltip handlers from the buttons, as I wasn't using them anyways.

Sure. http://pastebin.com/ also works well for single text files (like Lua). If that was the case, the UI should be working fine for you now. Are you still having issues starting with the UI tab? If so do you see any of the messages printed to chat box (like you do see when starting with the slash command)?

@Gilysan, do you see any of the messages at all in chat if you enable using the UI tab?

PS: I did find one limited-case bug that might have caused your issue. If you turn on 'Enabled' before entering in the invite string it possibly just doesn't start looking at chat for people to invite. As AutoInvite saves your invite string, it'd only happen the first time you use the addon. I'll work on fix as soon as get time.

Using the slash commands worked to start and end listening, I saw the message in chat. Also saw the invites go out. I got hit by the group leader bug 4 times in a row though *sigh*. The settings tab doesn't seem to do the job.

I have only ever tried it in zone chat.

That could help, as it does start listening a little bit differently when using the slash command. I think most people probably use the UI tab to start it though, so it probably won't.

Are there any messages printed to the chat window? When it's working you should see things like "AutoInvite listening ...", "Sending invite to ...", etc.

What chat channel is the person typing the message on? Guild chat, whispers, and zone/say/yell are handled differently, and can help narrow down any issue.

It looks like you might have a space in front of the invite string. I actually don't have it setup to remove spaces before/after, so that could cause it to mess up. I'll look at adding that in. In the meantime, make sure there is NOT a space before/after your string. You can also try starting by the slash command instead with
Code:
/ai toj
As far as starting the group invite, it should work fine either way.
