thanks for your fast answer and sorry it took me so long to answer. First off I found the key bind, reinstated it and it works perfectly. And I'm feeling pretty stupid because I saw that Libcustom-thingy and still didn't make the connection. Second, yes I'm using the account-wide setting. It's my default especially for addons where I can add information since usually I want/need access to that information on more than one char. I tried the character-wide setting but found out that it would mean losing all the mail already saved which is not an option for me. As for my preferences ... well, for the personal writings I'm currently using the workaround of adding NA or EU to the title. Not the most elegant solution but it works. What I would love to have is some way to separate the saved mail. I don't care if that happens by actually separating servers or by simply (?) adding two folders one for each server and the ability to sort the saved mail into them. It would be enough if the saved mail would have an added number or server short in the title when it's saved. Just some way to keep them all sorted. Thanks for looking into this. |

Alright! Keybind sorted. Yep, gotcha. Definitely understand not wanting to lose everything! (Which reminds me, everyone please make sure you routinely back up your Saved Variables folder!) Good you have a temporary solution, but yes. Ideally I'd like to come up with a solution where you don't have to do workarounds. I'm still experimenting with different solutions but I think I can get Megaserver-dependent account-wide Saved Variables. What I'd aim to do would be the next time a user logs on after this update; current account-wide variables are duplicated once-off to NA/EU as a basis and then they each progress separately from there. Character-wide variables continue to act as they have. Since that would leave a redundant 'old' copy of variables in the folder taking up space, I would also like to have a way, (once the user can confirm the copy was successful), to delete the now redundant 'old account-wide' variables. Kinda thinking out loud here. Before this I had an idea I wanted to implement "at some point" where users could create their own mail categories and/or shift mail between them. So I might just give that a bit more focus in the shorter-term. In the meantime I had an update with more books ready to go, so I just did that and next up I'll look into this! |

Hi,
thanks for taking on the save per server issue. Good news: 1) Saved docs on account-wide are separate. 2) The update worked perfectly on the NA server. Saved docs on EU are no longer visible and everything saved before the update is still there. 3) I did a backup before updating the addon .... because Bad news: On the EU server, the update seems to have acted like an addon reset. Every book read, every mail saved and every thing written personally is gone. My question now is: Can I do a simple copy and paste of the saved mail either from my backup file or from the NA side using Notepad? |

Yes, yes you can. I am going to write up a walkthrough and then pin it to the top in case anyone else has that issue. Thanks for letting me know. I'm also going to create a few backups of my own and then see if I can replicate this issue and fix it so people that haven't updated yet hopefully don't run in to this issue.

Hi everyone,
I recently did an update to how the saved variables were stored, and this might have resulted in some unexpected issues. If you use Character-Wide variables (the current default), then you shouldn't have been affected. Also if you only play on the NA Megaserver you also shouldn't notice any issues, (let me know if you do). If you use or used Account-Wide variables and play or played on both Megaservers or the EU Megaserver, read on... The basic premise of the update was simple. Take your current Account-Wide, Megaserver-independent, saved variables and create two copies. One Account-Wide (NA Megaserver) and one Account-Wide (EU Megaserver). This may have been incomplete, and it may have only copied to the NA Megaserver. Regardless of how it happened, the solution is the same. If you have a back-up, that's good. Please hold onto that until you can confirm the following steps work for you. If not, well it's not needed for this process anyway. Still, might as well make one now. (Note: Please confirm both megaservers still have the Account-Wide setting enabled. If they do and you're still missing data, then continue onwards...) So how to manually duplicate your updated saved data to the opposite megaserver:
It should look something like this, but if you have a lot of data it may take some scrolling to find everything.
Warning: Spoiler
Code:
["NA Megaserver"] = { ["@Name"] = { ["$AccountWide"] = { ["BooksMailRoom"] = { [...] }, ["Settings"] = { [...] }, ["version"] = 0.2000000000, ["BooksPersonalWritings"] = { [...] }, ["BooksUnlocked"] = { [...] }, }, }, }, For reference, the top-level hierarchy of the file looks like this:
Warning: Spoiler
Code:
TheLibrarium = { ["Default"] = { ["@Name"] = { [...] }, }, ["NA Megaserver"] = { ["@Name"] = { [...] }, }, ["EU Megaserver"] = { ["@Name"] = { [...] }, }, }, What you essentially want to do is to copy one ["?? Megaserver"] into the other. For example, if your data exists under the ["NA Megaserver"] heading, you can do this:
Warning: Spoiler
Code:
["NA Megaserver"] = { ["@Name"] = { [YOUR DATA HERE] }, }, ["EU Megaserver"] = { ["@Name"] = { [COPY TO HERE] }, }, As an initial check to see if you've done copy+paste correctly, all the {} should align with each other.
Warning: Spoiler
So:
Code:
[...] = { [...] = { [...] }, } Code:
[...] = { [...] = { [...] }, } Once you've copy+pasted to your satisfaction, the real test is to log on to the other Megaserver and see if everything shows up without errors. (So please, do take a backup before doing this process.) If you want to let me know how it goes or if any of this walkthrough doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Thanks everyone.

Wrote up a whole guide, then noticed something while trying to reproduce the error. Just tested this on my end, and I want to confirm something with you... On EU, can you check to see if your settings got reset to Character-Wide? If so, can you toggle it back to Account-Wide and see if everything is still there?

was pretty sure before but just double-checked to be really certain: Account settings did not reset. Account-wide was and still is activated in the profil. |

Hi,
just FYI I was about to do the resaving thing with my data when I took a look at all of the code. I think I figured out why after the server separation the data for the EU server was missing. Testing my theory I logged back into the game, changed from account-wide to char setting, and then back to account-wide. And all the data was back where it's supposed to be. So if anyone on EU has the same problem with their data, try changing the settings first. It seems that after the separation the data was correctly transferred to the new sections NA and EU servers in the code. The first log-in into the game after that on the NA server the addon correctly accessed the new NA server section. On the EU side, however, the addon did not log into the new EU server section but stayed in the old, now obsolete, section that combined both servers. Apparently on the EU server, one needs to change from account-wide to char-wide and back to force the addon to acknowledge the new EU server section. Thanks again for making the changes. |

I played around to get a sense of how difficult this could be or not be, and it looks like it's doable. Don't know if it'll break anything but I'll give it a further look and scope it out. |

I list new books as I add them (in the Change Log) but haven't added locations there for the last few. In-game in the Librarium interface you can see missing books in unlocked categories, but unless I unlock all categories from the start for everyone, you'll have to discover them incrementally. That's possible, however. Their locations I left un-noted because I wanted them to be like Easter Eggs hidden around the place. Don't know how I'd put in-game a list of locations. Also take a look at the latest update (once it's approved)! Hopefully it suits your purpose. |
