Foundry Tactical Combat (FTC)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.72
by: Atropos [More]
Foundry Tactical Combat is a user interface enhancement for The Elder Scrolls Online designed to give players access to relevant combat data in an easy to process framework which allows them to respond quickly and effectively to evolving combat situations. The multiple components of the FTC addon are designed to restore certain information to the game interface which many gamers may feel is missing from the default minimalistic UI.

The addon is still in active development by Atropos, and will hopefully continue to evolve and improve during the coming weeks and months. If you are a fan of the addon, keep an eye on the main addon page on Tamriel Foundry to ensure you always have the latest version.

FTC Components

Foundry Tactical Combat has six primary components which are each optionally configurable. All UI elements added by FTC can be disabled or repositioned to suit your preferences. Additionally, Foundry Tactical Combat is fully localized for French and German client versions!

Unit Frames – FTC Unit Frames refers to the display of attribute bars and other information pertaining to yourself, your target, and your group members. The FTC frames are designed to be lightweight and informative. The frames show numerical values for your resources and damage shielding, as well as visual indicators for active HoT and DoT effects, your target’s exceute threshold, and more. The unit frames can have a rich set of aesthetic customization options allowing you to achieve the exact look that fits your UI style.

Active Buff Tracking – The Buff Tracking component of FTC displays a configurable list of icons representing the known buff and debuff effects that are currently affecting your character. The ESO addon API does not provide this information for buffs with durations shorter than 30 seconds, but FTC uses an intelligent combination of detection mechanisms to carefully approximate your inventory of active effects. This knowledge can help you make more informed combat decisions, improve your resource management, and optimize your ability rotation.

Combat Log – Foundry Tactical Combat incorporates a text-based combat log which records a history of combat events so that you can review the details of recent encounters. The combat log by default alternates visibility with the ESO chat tab, but can be detached and positioned wherever you desire on-screen. An optional keybinding can be used to quickly toggle the visibility of the combat log.

Scrolling Combat Text – The FTC Scrolling Combat Text component enables real-time display of damage and healing values as they occur in combat as well as a helpful Combat Alerts component that warns your character immediately when significant combat events occur. FTC’s combat text displays the name and icon (when possible) for known sources of damage as well as useful indicators for damage avoidance through shielding, blocking, or dodging. The display style and format of scrolling combat text events can be customized in the settings menu.

Damage Statistics – The Damage Statistics component adds analytical tools to help you examine and improve your combat performance. While in-combat a small DPS meter tracks the length of your current encounter, your cumulative damage-per-second, and your cumulative healing-per-second throughout the fight. After combat has concluded, you can open a full Damage Report which details the composition of your damage and healing by target. These statitics can be linked to your party members in chat using a configurable keybinding or by clicking on the chat icons in the damage report.

Advanced Hotbar – The Advanced Hotbar component improves the default ESO action bar by adding some additional information that is useful in combat. Your current Ultimate pool and your percentage towards the next Ultimate activation is displayed as well as a visual glow indicator behind the ultimate itself which indicates that you are currently generating additional Ultimate in combat. The Advanced Hotbar component also adds an explicit potion cooldown timer so you can know exactly when you will be able to use your next consumable item.

Installation Instructions
To install Foundry Tactical Combat follow these steps. FTC is also supported by Minion, an automated ESO addon management utility.

1) Download FTC_Current.zip to a location of your choosing.
2) Extract the .zip archive into your ESO addons folder found in My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons/ for Windows users, or Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons. for OS X.
3) You should now have a folder inside Addons named “FoundryTacticalCombat” which contains the addon files.
4) Launch The Elder Scrolls Online. FTC should be automatically enabled. If not, go to the Add-Ons section of the game menu and make sure that the box beside Foundry Tactical Combat is checked.
5) Access the FTC configuration settings by navigating in-game to Settings -> Add-Ons -> FTC, or by simply typing “/ftc” into chat.

This might not be a bug, but still I feel I should report it. The mage guild spell "Entropy", the non morphed version (haven't unlocked morph yet) is not being displayed/tracked as a player buff (Major sorcery), only the debuff/DoT on the target is displayed/tracked.

Yep, I agree this would be cool. I'll think about ways to do this without adding a ton of bloat to the saved variables file. As a user, do you think a feature like this would be useful if you were limited to say.... 10 saved parses?
10 would be fine. You could also add like a + or save button that would allow the user to save a specific parse for longer. That way I could save the boss fights and ignore the trash mobs. Really, I'd just like to be able to go back and review my parses after the raid. During a speed run I don't even have time to glance at it.

Also, now that you've added the group dps thing, assuming that ZOS doesn't immediately squash it, it would be cool to be able to review those after the raid.

Odly enough, the "Target Debuffs" triggers sometimes, but not everytime and surely not with every debuff.
Aah, I see. Well, the answer is that this isn't a bug. The game API just doesn't report most debuffs. There are some that will be possible to be displayed if they are long enough or if they occur as a result of spells you cast yourself.

The ESO game API doesn't give any information about buffs/debuffs created by others unless they last longer than 30 seconds.

I tryed reinstalling FTC, disabling all other Addons and repairing my instalation. Do you have any ideia of whats going on with my client or should i just try to reinstall the whole game ?

Thanks for the addons btw, this new version has an awesome layout and just needs some more customization to be perfect.

  • ZOS applies "normalization" to the X,Y coordinates of map pings which causes results to be unreliable after a certain point.
  • There are three "significant digits" that can be made reliable, being the first three digits to the right of the decimal.
  • In order to prevent even these from being normalized it is necessary to buffer them by adding a placeholder 5 and then a 4 to the 4th and 5th positions after the decimal.

For example, if you want to ping 234 in the X data and 789 in the Y data, send the following with the PingMap command:

Code:
PingMap(MAP_PIN_TYPE_PING, MAP_TYPE_LOCATION_CENTERED, 0.23454, 0.78954)
Even with padding the 4th digit and greater after the decimal cannot be relied on to be accurate 100% of the time, with exponentially increasing randomness the further right you go (by the 6th position it is virtually useless.)
Interesting insight, my use case is slightly different than yours, I suppose. In the case of dice rolls you know how many digits to expect to be transmitted, in the case of DPS the number of digits transmitted could be anywhere from 2 to 6. This makes the problem a bit harder in my case.

On the other hand, with a dice rolling addon you need to guarantee 100% accuracy of information. In my case its fine to sacrifice a bit of accuracy due to normalization. If someone deals 12,721.23 DPS and the addon reports it to their group as 12.719.93, they can always link to chat if they want to quibble about the details.

In my tests so far, I haven't seen too much drop in accuracy due to normalization even when dividing by a number sufficiently large to lose precision after 4 or 5 decimal places. It's a very new feature though, so I'll have to see how it holds up in a wider variety of scenarios.

Sadly I need other users also using FTC 0.65+ in order to even test this feature, so let's hope my addon continues to attract users.

I'm VERY interested in any feedback you have. Does Invictus have a scheduled raid time? Does anyone stream? Thank you for testing in a trial scenario.

Let me know if you find a common cause you can replicate, that shouldn't trigger an error, but there are always edge cases.

Thanks for the suggestion. Currently I do display the rank name unless the target has a custom title set (which granted is less informative in PvP than their rank title). I'll think about this.

Good catch with that, thanks for the bug report. As for the overall crit per target, I could consider adding this. I feel like it's not particularly informative, though, especially for anyone playing a hybrid build with a combination of spell crit / melee crit abilities (ok, ok, I know, nobody actually does this).

I'm working on a better solution for group/raid frame conflicts with other addons. In the mean time, to you or anyone else who has raised this issue. Could I get a clear list of specific feedback regarding the FTC group frames and why you prefer a different set of group/raid frames?

Yeah, I suppose, but I had several tanks specifically request this behavior so the taunt timer is always visible on their screen.

Thanks to everyone for the continued feedback.

One more quick point,

Generally I like the new interim fix that always shows your most recent taunt. HOWEVER, I think that this should still only show if you have SOME enemy targeted.

Having it just float there ticking down when you have no target or when combat ends is a bit awkward.

Great addon. Dont know why i was thinking playing ESO without it.

Btw. I think it would be a nice feature if you could turn on whisper sound notification so when someone sends you whisper (or just new person wshipers you) there will be some sound indicator.

Same issue here. For now my workaround is to keep the frames enabled but drag them out of the screen. A fix would be nice though.
Good idea, I'll just do this...
