Foundry Tactical Combat (FTC)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.72
by: Atropos [More]
Foundry Tactical Combat is a user interface enhancement for The Elder Scrolls Online designed to give players access to relevant combat data in an easy to process framework which allows them to respond quickly and effectively to evolving combat situations. The multiple components of the FTC addon are designed to restore certain information to the game interface which many gamers may feel is missing from the default minimalistic UI.

The addon is still in active development by Atropos, and will hopefully continue to evolve and improve during the coming weeks and months. If you are a fan of the addon, keep an eye on the main addon page on Tamriel Foundry to ensure you always have the latest version.

FTC Components

Foundry Tactical Combat has six primary components which are each optionally configurable. All UI elements added by FTC can be disabled or repositioned to suit your preferences. Additionally, Foundry Tactical Combat is fully localized for French and German client versions!

Unit Frames – FTC Unit Frames refers to the display of attribute bars and other information pertaining to yourself, your target, and your group members. The FTC frames are designed to be lightweight and informative. The frames show numerical values for your resources and damage shielding, as well as visual indicators for active HoT and DoT effects, your target’s exceute threshold, and more. The unit frames can have a rich set of aesthetic customization options allowing you to achieve the exact look that fits your UI style.

Active Buff Tracking – The Buff Tracking component of FTC displays a configurable list of icons representing the known buff and debuff effects that are currently affecting your character. The ESO addon API does not provide this information for buffs with durations shorter than 30 seconds, but FTC uses an intelligent combination of detection mechanisms to carefully approximate your inventory of active effects. This knowledge can help you make more informed combat decisions, improve your resource management, and optimize your ability rotation.

Combat Log – Foundry Tactical Combat incorporates a text-based combat log which records a history of combat events so that you can review the details of recent encounters. The combat log by default alternates visibility with the ESO chat tab, but can be detached and positioned wherever you desire on-screen. An optional keybinding can be used to quickly toggle the visibility of the combat log.

Scrolling Combat Text – The FTC Scrolling Combat Text component enables real-time display of damage and healing values as they occur in combat as well as a helpful Combat Alerts component that warns your character immediately when significant combat events occur. FTC’s combat text displays the name and icon (when possible) for known sources of damage as well as useful indicators for damage avoidance through shielding, blocking, or dodging. The display style and format of scrolling combat text events can be customized in the settings menu.

Damage Statistics – The Damage Statistics component adds analytical tools to help you examine and improve your combat performance. While in-combat a small DPS meter tracks the length of your current encounter, your cumulative damage-per-second, and your cumulative healing-per-second throughout the fight. After combat has concluded, you can open a full Damage Report which details the composition of your damage and healing by target. These statitics can be linked to your party members in chat using a configurable keybinding or by clicking on the chat icons in the damage report.

Advanced Hotbar – The Advanced Hotbar component improves the default ESO action bar by adding some additional information that is useful in combat. Your current Ultimate pool and your percentage towards the next Ultimate activation is displayed as well as a visual glow indicator behind the ultimate itself which indicates that you are currently generating additional Ultimate in combat. The Advanced Hotbar component also adds an explicit potion cooldown timer so you can know exactly when you will be able to use your next consumable item.

Installation Instructions
To install Foundry Tactical Combat follow these steps. FTC is also supported by Minion, an automated ESO addon management utility.

1) Download FTC_Current.zip to a location of your choosing.
2) Extract the .zip archive into your ESO addons folder found in My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons/ for Windows users, or Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons. for OS X.
3) You should now have a folder inside Addons named “FoundryTacticalCombat” which contains the addon files.
4) Launch The Elder Scrolls Online. FTC should be automatically enabled. If not, go to the Add-Ons section of the game menu and make sure that the box beside Foundry Tactical Combat is checked.
5) Access the FTC configuration settings by navigating in-game to Settings -> Add-Ons -> FTC, or by simply typing “/ftc” into chat.

Strange one, I haven't seen that before. Do you use a multiple-monitor display? I can probably just make that window movable as a solution for those cases.
I see you already changed it with the latest version. Now it works fine. Thx.

Hey folks, I have taken as much feedback as possible in the past several days and released the first patch version for the FTC 0.60 release. This update is intended to address the most significant and frequent concerns and issues users have had with the new version of FTC. I hope these changes continue to improve everyone’s experience with the addon.

----------------------------------------------------------

FTC 0.63 Changes

Settings
  • Reposition FTC welcome message to (hopefully) be more visible on multi-monitor displays.
  • Automatically release the mouse cursor after clicking the button to re-position FTC UI elements.

Unit Frames
  • Add options to individual enable or disable the player and target frames for more fine-tuned control of which FTC unit frame elements are utilized.
  • Restored the option to overlay labels on the default unit frames. While this seems like an incredibly trivial option, unfortunately the implications of its existence are inconvenient for the FTC code logic, which was the reason I removed this feature from the addon. To be clear, I have no desire to support enhancements to the default ESO unit frames and I remain firm in my desire to see this feature removed from future versions of FTC if possible.
  • Only hide the XP bar if the XP bar is disabled. Mount, siege, and werewolf timers will continue to be shown even if the mini-XP bar is disabled.
  • Enable out-of-combat opacity fading for the custom FTC target frame.

Buff Tracking
  • Correct the tracked duration on Summon Shades and its morphs.
  • Improve the detection for ground target spell activation which was causing players who quickly activated ground target spells by double tapping their keyboard key to not correctly receive a tracked buff.
  • Add debuff tracking for Destructive Reach (and variants).
  • Resolve (hopefully) an issue with residual UI displayed from the “fake buffs” in the FTC menu that was spilling out onto other buff and debuff labels.
  • Fix a bug that caused consuming a potion from your inventory while you had an empty quickslot to trigger a UI error.
  • Add long-buff tracking for the 4 vampire feeding stages.

Scrolling Combat Text
  • Filter out some additional damage events that should not be reported.
  • Correct a bug that caused changing certain SCT options in the menu to erroneously display the FTC player frame.
  • Add a toggle-able option to disable SCT alerts.
  • Correct a bug that caused the colors for Low Stamina and Low Magicka notifications to be reversed if FTC unit frames component was disabled.
  • Add additional contrast between critical and non-critical hits in scrolling combat text.
  • Allow the “arc intensity” setting in scrolling combat text to be turned negative to reverse the arcing direction of text. This will easily allow players who want their incoming damage on the left and outgoing damage on the right to swap the position of the SCT containers while still retaining arcing animation paths.

Combat Log
  • Only print the FTC welcome message to the FTC Combat Log, not to the default ESO chat window.

Damage Statistics
  • Change the anchor reference of the damage report to hopefully be more accessible for multi-monitor setups.
  • Change the labeling scheme for post-to-chat damage reports vs multiple targets denoting the total number of distinct targets included in the DPS summary.

Another thing you can try for me and let me know what the results are is the following. Please execute the following 2 LUA scripts in your in-game chat tab:

Code:
/script d(GuiRoot:GetDimensions())
/script d(FTC_UI:GetDimensions())
No annoyance at all, I'm happy to help in any way I can.

Disabling all other addons solves the problem.

GUI Root:
2548
1433.2694091797

FTC_UI:
7644.103515625
1433.2694091797

Note, these were taken with Wykkyd's Multi-Screen enabled.

EDIT:
Did a bit of testing.

If I disable Wykkyd's Multi-Screen, set FTC positions, reenable WMS, FTC's positions will hold!

If I, with WMS enabled, move one of the attribute bars, and reload - that particular bar will get relocated to the other screen, but the others do not.

I'm experiencing the same issue.

Settings -> Addon Settings -> Unlock Positions

The reticle remains in the center of the screen. I've tried turning off all other addons and produced the same results.

Addon's that dont have this problem include: AUI, Killcounter, Craftstore, and until recently, FTC

I'm sure there are more but this is from my experience to the best of my memory, maybe looking into what they do differently might help!

It appears that there are a great many people upset about this. I did not anticipate the number of people that evidently relied on FTC for this feature. Let me be perfectly clear. I do not want it to be a part of my addon, BUT I am trying to produce something that is useful to players, so I will likely end up reversing my stance and re-adding this feature.
Thank you!

FTC has several neat properties, one of them consists of FTC being almost a "one stop shop" for an useful UI add-on. Taking away such a feature while other add-ons don't, puts end user into the very uncomfortable task of installing other, multi-purpose similar addons with all the usual consequences: hooks going bad, error popups, slowdowns and so on.

The health numbers missing issue even caused an ESO general forum thread dedicated to it. And as I expected, those who tried the suggested add-on replacements had issues or missing features.

It may help to know I am using Wykkyd's Multi-Screen addon as well, as the game is nearly unplayable without it.
Hey ottobot. I haven't had any experience testing with multi-monitor setups. I'm curious, were you unable to resolve the issue by simply re-positioning the frames where you would like them to reside?
Thanks for the reply.
I can unlock and reposition them, and they will stay until the UI is reloaded. -mount stamina is not shown when mini experience bar is disabled
-with most people picking multiple roles in group finder the coloring of the group window frames can end up being wrong more often than not - maybe add a little toggable icon to change their roles manually?

Plus little update: noticed 2 more minor glitches; 2-3 times by now the custom player frame opacity would get stuck in it's out-of-combat setting (e.g. for me, it would remain at 50% even in combat), and durations of long buffs on other targets would sometimes "get stuck" on screen and keeping showing no matter what I look at, even with no target in sight.
I'm definitely looking into these issues. Thanks for the reports!

Yep, I like this suggestion. I don't think it's something I'll do in the very short term because the next couple releases will be mainly targeting bug fixes.

I'm not sure. I didn't run into any performance issues with raid groups in cyrodiil... BUT I did not really test it on any groups larger than 10-12. It's possible with 24 man groups there may be a performance dip when it re-calculates all the members if someone joins. I'll see if there is a way to make this more efficient.

Maybe I'll have this only post to the combat log, and not to chat.

Tony.... you are an incredibly difficult person to please. I'm sorry that you don't like the new version. I am considering the opacity feedback and will make a decision on how to handle it. Please reconsider your attitude towards my efforts as a person. Not everything I do may be perfect for you, but I would appreciate at least a bit of acknowledgement of my good intentions. I devote an enormous amount of time (more than I can realistically afford, honestly) to trying to make this addon better. I would appreciate it if you would work harder to make your feedback more constructive and less dramatic.

Hey, thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce this behavior on my end. Are you able to give me any more insight into what causes this? Does it always fail to work? Just sometimes? Any more details would be great.

Thank you all for the feedback.

I don't say this version is bad or worse, but FTC player frames and their layout just look way too "modern" and "WoW-ish" for me so I want to use the original ESO ones.

I am now thorn between reverting to 0.38a (= give up on updates and one day ESO will get updates and 0.38a will stop working) or installing "Lui Extended" which implements a lot of what FTC does including the damage meters (what makes FTC stand out) and also the NPCs health numbers like old FTC.

Unfortunately I have no plans to continue supporting enhancements to the default ESO unit frames. If you desire this functionality there are a number of simple addons out there that add this feature. Sorry!
This is terrible, terrible news. Sure, I can go seek for the umpteenth, out of date, memory / CPU heavy addon that will conflict with other add-ons (included FTC). But FTC did it in an awesome way. I wish I knew how to modify FTC to put the old functionality back.

Hmm, I thought this was just my client that was causing the short freeze when a person is added to a large raid group. It is FTC?
It seems to be; once I turned off Raid Frames, I stopped getting the freeze but instead started getting the 409s on pretty much any action besides moving (e.g., weapon swap would pop up the error message).

Hey, can you give us an option to turn off your "FTC Greetings Message" please... it would be nice if I could have a clear Chat log.
