Fragmented Shield

I just noticed that Fragmented Shield, morph of Obsidian Shield (DragonKnight) does not display in any of the notification fields when used.

I only need the Scrolling Combat Text from LUI, so there is no need for the other features
But with the custom version of your combat cloud i am happy

I Love IT!

Maybe some others are looking for that and you could make it as option in funture version?

However ability icons are available just for your own abilities - all other icons will be just red question marks as it is around 0:14s in the linked YouTube preview or there will be no icons at all. I really hate that question mark icon... Anyway preview how it can look like is here.

By the way if you like LUI, it still works with one small change to the code, feel free to use it instead of this addon.

I agree, the question marks are horrible. What about showing the icons only for the player abilities?

In my opinion this is not something what Combat Cloud should do, this is more like feature for buff tracker such as Foundry Tactical Combat, Srendarr or ZAM BuffDisplay.
That's what I thought at first as well, but then I had the idea that it might fit really well into Combat Cloud.

Here is my reasoning:
- It's an event when the shield goes up, in the same sense that it is an event when you gain magicka or stamina.
- Combat Cloud already gives status messages like "low magicka", so it might fit to have a status message like "shield at xxx".
- A change of the shield value only happens when you take damage. It's not triggered by the buff itself, so it is a combat event.
- Combat Cloud already tracks when the shield absorbs damage so it fits from that perspective as well.

On the other hand, Srendarr only tracks buff durations but not effect values, IIRC.

I have a feature request. Is it possible you can display the current shield strength for damage shields (accumulated if multiple shields are up)?

If you are using heavy duty shields (for example Blazing Shield) it is really interesting to know if the shield will deplete before the timer runs out or not.

Keep up the great work!

Hello!

First of all, thank you for the addon, which works very well.

I know that you get tons of requests, but imho the best thing to add would be more animation options. For example, the 'Arc' animation, perhaps even with a 'degree' fader. Customization is where Addons can really shine. For example, I usually go for a semi-circle, going around the character in a clockwise direction, having the outgoing in the upper right side, and the incoming in the lower left side.

With your addon the numbers either appear and stick to a random spot, or go up/down in a straight line. It's hard for me to work with that, so I chose to disable incoming and outgoing numbers altogether, yet the plugin is still quite useful.

Adding that next level of customization will make it practically perfect.

Yes, it is possible to play a sound, however only sound which is already in game. UI does not allow external sounds.
It is possible to send a message to the chat window, but you can't post message to the party or any other channel so you will be the only one who sees the message.

im tryin to get into lua addon programming, but have big problems... lua.org doesnt help me much. it seems to me, that programming addons are quite another planet. done the wikieso tutorial but its not easy to find out the correct forms of functions, events and the "adds" to them.

are there some news, if zenimaxs ui in the future will allow external sounds, or even more space for programmers? or maybe there is a workaround?

edit: could you post me the code for the hit value, to post in clientchat?
This code will print "Critical hit: abilityName (value)" to the chat:

Place for that code is in the event viewer you use - Core\EventViewers\Combat_Cloud.lua, Core\EventViewers\Combat_Hybrid.lua or Core\EventViewers\Combat_Scroll.lua.

To this code:
