Item Saver  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 3.4.1.0
by: Randactyl, ingeniousclown
This started as a simple mod that allowed you to place a little marker on your items so you could remember to not accidentally sell or deconstruct them.

With Item Saver 3.0.0.0, that simple functionality is extended with some awesome new features:
  • Choose whether items are saved in general or uniquely - Save multiple stacks of the same item or give duplicates their own sets!
  • Choose to filter marked items from any combination of vendors, the deconstruction list, the research list, the guild store tell tab, the send mail window, and the trading window.
  • Create as many different sets of items as you like, all with their own save type, marker texture, color, and filtering rules.
  • Add your own marker textures to use for Item Saver sets (details below).

Full feature list:
  • Create a new item set with the "+ Create Set" context menu option.
  • Choose your set's name, save type, marker, color, and filters.
  • Choose your default save set.
  • Keybind for saving items to the default set.
  • Choose one of nine possible marker positions.
  • Item sets are listed in a submenu when right clicking an item.
  • The context submenu can be deferred until there are more than a specified number of sets created (1 - 5).
  • Edit created sets. Any changes will update immediately without needing a UI reload.
  • Quickly clear all items from a set.
  • Delete sets you no longer need.

Want some more marker textures to choose from? Check out Item Saver - Advanced Filters Marker Textures or see below to create a new texture pack for yourself. It's super easy!

Item Saver features an API for other addons to integrate with Item Saver's functionality. The full Item Saver API is listed here:
Lua Code:
  1. ItemSaver_AddSet(setName, setData)
  2. --returns true if the set was successfully registered.
  3. --returns false if the set name is an empty string or already in use.
  4.
  5. ItemSaver_GetDefaultSet()
  6. --returns the default set name
  7.
  8. ItemSaver_GetFilters(setName)
  9. --if the given set exists, returns a table with the following keys: store,

  61. --if setName is nil, the default set will be used.

---

The new API for adding marker textures takes its inspiration from Inventory Grid View's skins and Advanced Filters' dropdown filters.

There are code examples in the markertextures folder in Item Saver's root directory.

You may submit your markers as plugins for Item Saver on ESOUI.
Do this by:
  1. Go to http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info300-ItemSaver.html (this page).
  2. Click on "Other Files" between "Change Log" and "Comments"
  3. Click on "Upload Optional Addon"
  4. Enter all relevant information and attach a .zip file containing the folder that contains your plugin.
  5. Submit

The archive hierarchy should look something like:
Code:
IS_MyMarkerTexture-1.0.0.0.zip
    IS_MyMarkerTexture
        markertextures
            MyMarkerTexture.dds
        IS_MyMarkerTexture.txt
        IS_MyMarkerTexture.lua
Remember to include all readme and disclaimer information required by ZOS.

Your addon manifest should look similar to the following:
Code:
## Title: Item Saver - My Marker Texture
## Author: Randactyl
## Version: 1.0.0.0
## APIVersion: 100012
## DependsOn: ItemSaver

IS_MyMarkerTexture.lua
Your title should retain the leading "Item Saver - " in order to keep things organized in the game's addon menu.
ItemSaver must always be included in the DependsOn line.

First of all, I want to say I love your addon! <3 I run a system with about three weapons instead of two. It works very well with Wykkyd's Outfitter so I can easily swap between all of my weapons and skills without worrying that I might accidentally sell one/some.

I do have a suggestion though. When I decided to get your addon, I had collected several (including junkyard by ins). I was a bit confused when I wanted to mark it as important or saved and the option was "Mark Item". It didn't feel very intuitive because the terminology was the same as junkyard's, where they would "mark item" as junk.

So my suggestion is to change the text to something more obvious like "Mark as Saved", "Save Item", "Lock Item", or just something that makes sense as to why this item is being marked and what it's being marked for. It was just a little vague at first. Otherwise, I love your system, so thank you very much!

Thanks
Update the addon, I added a toggle and set the filters to default to off.

Also, check out the Research Assistant addon, it's a bit better at helping you organize research. This add-on was more meant to help you remember to NOT research or deconstruct your important stuff.
Thanks for the change. I've tried RA before, but it doesn't account for weapons and armor that I have reserved on my bank char for certain traits. I currently run a simple spreadsheet to keep track of this. I keep a handful of research items in the bank. I was already able to tell my research items from deconstruction items through the bank or bag symbols on mouseover, but this makes the process that much more obvious and simple when I go from the bank to start deconstructing.

Anyways, thanks for the change. It's perfect for my needs as of now. Thanks!

Any chance you would be able to add multiple color's of icons? It would be nice to be able to lock all the things the same, but have different colored icons, to note why the items are lockd. Simply have the lock show multiple times on tooltip, but for each color. Id be happy to take care of the .dds files for you, but im afraid i am just starting to learn lua's.

I wish I was able to research an item (which is probably why I saved it!) but not deconstruct it normally. Is it possible to add options to either unmark an item from a crafting station, or possibly add an options panel which would allow the user to choose which actions to block?

Why not use Research Assistant to mark your crafting items for you?

Look this addon!

To comment on the Research Assistant question. I find I don't need all that addon offers. I personally just want to mark an item I want to research for a later time and make sure it's not destroyed before that time. Basically I'd like your addon to let me Mark for Research and have a different icon than the current lock icon.

Also, instead of having to type /itemsaver filters you could toss it under the Settings menu. I know currently it's just one setting, but beats typing it =)

It's kind of bad practice to take up a whole settings menu for one little setting

Filtering feature dosnt work with both addons instaled.. but if this can be done it will be masterpiece

Thx again i hope i long support
I hope the creator decides to work with me, otherwise I might have some SERIOUS mental problems :P

I work on and use both of them and haven't ran into this issue. Can you be more specific?

You may need to turn the filters on with the slash command "/itemsaver filters", as I have them defaulted to OFF with the newest update. Also, the newest updates to both add-ons are written with each other in mind to make the filters compatible.

I'll look into it later today.

I'm having trouble reproducing this issue consistently. I was about to make a post saying that I am not seeing it at all, but then I looked again before hitting "Submit reply" and suddenly the ItemSaver filters stopped working in the store... since then I have been unable to reproduce it again.

Unfortunately I can't really fix something that I can't reliably reproduce

Could you change the Menu Text to "Save Item", because I often click it accidentially when trying to mark items as junk.

Noticed the option available in the Guild Store to lock/unlock items I had listed. Tried it out to see what it did and got this:

Interesting. Thanks, I'll get that fixed

Also, there is a verbiage change coming.

When you've got the same item like a quest reward on two characters and you mark it on one character it marks it on the other character too. Just a minor issue though, not a major one.
