Re: Re: Motif Helper 0.0.2 Displays an Empty Pop-up
(1) I play the base game, plus each and every chapter and DLC released during the past 7+ years that I've been playing on the NA megaserver; (2) My UI language is English. I don't play on the PTS. For whatever reason, I keep thinking of something that I read somewhere -- that there was a change in the way that the mega-server stores Achievements made in Update 33. The developer of an add-on changed the data source for the add-on from the Achievements to the Journal Library. .... ??? |

Re: Motif Helper 0.0.2 Displays an Empty Pop-up
Are you playing the base game or PTS? And what is your UI language? |

Motif Helper 0.0.2 Displays an Empty Pop-up
When I enter the /motif command in the Chat text entry box, Motif Helper displays a pop-up window that contains only the words "Motifs you need to learn" at the top and nothing below it. I doubt this means that at least two of my character(s) have learned all of the motifs they must learn for the Grand Master Crafter Achievement, because they have learned each of the motifs for the ten races and only a few more.
Please advise.

Re: Re: Observations
By the way, some Style Motifs which a character can obtain in the course of play are also sold in the Crown Store. A few Style Motifs can be acquired only from the Crown Store. However, a daily Crafting Writ, or a Sealed Master Crafting Writ, never requires crafting an item which has a Crown-only style. Also, there is an entire "book" for each Style Motif that can be found in Tamriel. It contains each of the 14 chapters, so using the book enables the character to learn the entire motif. Such books are, however, rare and seldom found except by sheer luck. Instead of using such a book, the finder might sell it. So, a player might find a book for a Style Motif, which they want a character to learn, for sale in a Guild Store, but it will be expensive. (Of course, players whose characters acquire individual chapters of Style Motifs can sell them instead of using them.)
Furthermore: there are thousands of other books and documents of various kinds which can be found (and read) throughout Tamriel. The game software actually keeps a record of which ones each character finds, but there is no native feature to display that information -- with one exception. If a character completes all of the quests required to become a member of the Mages Guild, then Shalidor grants the character "the gift of Eidetic memory".* Thereupon, the Journal > Library immediately acquires another section. It displays lists of each "eidetic" book and document that the character has already found and "read". As with Lorebooks, the player can display the content of any "eidetic" book or other document that the character has found, to read it whenever they want!! The Eidetic Library also lists all books and documents available throughout Tamriel which the character has not "read" yet. When a character finds one, it is "unlocked" and becomes available to read at any time simply by using the Journal > Library > Eidetic documents library. There are players whose ambition is to find and read each and every Lorebook and eidetic book and document that can be found in Tamriel. So, what does this have to do with Style Motifs? One section of the Eidetic Library lists each and every Style Motif, and its chapters, which can be acquired during the course of play. For the character that you are currently playing, it shows which chapters have been learned, and which remain (if any) to be learned. Currently, Motif Helper simply lists each Style Motif for which the character has not learned all of the chapters, and how many chapters remain unknown. Unlike the Eidetic Library: (1) Motif Helper does not list any Style Motif(s) that the character has entirely learned, which would be very useful information, too. (2) Motif Helper does not name each chapter that the character has not learned, only how many. It would be much more useful if a player could see exactly which chapters have been learned and which ones have not. That said, the primary benefit to the player would be that Motif Helper does not require the character to complete all of the quests to become a member of the Mages Guild and receive the gift of Eidetic Memory (of course). So, if you can implement the same features which the Eidetic Library has for the Style Motifs, that would really be an amazing achievement. __________ * Someone who has an eidetic memory can recall, and quote to you, each and every word of everything which they have ever read!!

Re: Observations
I don't really understand how this is related to Eidetic Memory, it's all about styles when you craft an item. Could you please explain it? |

Observations
In my humble opinion, it would be better to change "Motifs you should learn" to "Motif chapters you don't know yet".*
It is not clear to me whether a Motif that none of my characters know will be included on the list. Is the list specific only for the character that I am playing when I display it? Motif Helper should certainly be useful for any character that has not completed the Mages Guild skill line and received the gift of Eidetic Memory. (The list of motifs and their respective chapters which that character has learned is thereafter shown as a bonus by displaying the Journal > Library feature.) ____________ * I am aware that you developed Motif Helper as an aid to fulfilling the requirements for the Master Crafter achievement. Personally, I don't play TESO to achieve anything in particular. I play it because I enjoy the adventure while completing quests, exploring delves and dungeons, and earning Gold Pieces by crafting and selling things.
