Hi !
What is the difference of your addon with Harven's Simple Chat Filter ?
Thanks
Simpler tests and setup = less overhead so better for players on low end PCs or those wishing to min/max their FPS.
Also, I don't use a white/black list. Essentially, mine is more generic. Also, my AddOn stands alone, if IRC Harven's requires libraries and extra loading / execution overhead.
Having said that, and it is some years since I looked at Harven's code, I dare say Harven's AddOn would let less rubbish slip through to chat when you have got it setup properly, just on the basis that it is so much more complicated.
I have completely overhauled the "look and feel" of the menu options. Still text/chat based for simplicity - no popup windows.
Also, the requested feature to ignore Guild Chat is now working correctly. It was always in there but a typo or something meant it was not exactly working as expected.
Default is TRUE for the parameter settings. Meaning to IGNORE (i.e. not process through GMF) all guild chat.
As always, "/gmf parms" will present the handful of settable parameters, and so on.
Hi! Thanks for asking. Guild advertisements have key words which are commonly used. It does a "find" on the presence of these key words. If a high enough score, based upon the number of found key words, then the message gets rejected by the game engine.
It is that simple.
(The rejecting is easy in ESO. I intercept the chat "event" and if the chat message is rejected I simply abort the "event". Otherwise I let it continue on)
(Surprisingly, I do NOT test for the word "join" as in my very extensive testing it was contributing to false positives. Just saying! Also, it doesn't get caught out by messages from yourself. They will never be rejected.)
Very good addon but it removes messages from my guild mates when we are talking about trading, guild store, etc. This one or SpamBam (I use both) one of them is doing it. I've enabled debug but it's no use to me if I don't know the codebase . And I guess there are no options to disable filtering of guild channels/party.
Guilds deliberately included so as to filter out those pesky players who spam guild chat in order to get you to join their "better" guild. Sigh.
