Version: 2.4.45
by: Kith, Garkin, Phinix, Sounomi
Azurah

(PM Phinix with improved translations!)

REQUIRED LIBRARIES: LibAddonMenu LibMediaProvider

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the action bar or other items are not saving position when moving in gamepad mode, you MUST /reloadui after changing modes before Azurah will work! This is due to a game engine limitation where internal references that share names are not updated completely until a reload (see Misc section of Azurah's general tab.) Azurah has an option to automatically reload when swapping modes.

UPDATE: Azurah is now fully compatible with Harvest Map, including the Spawned Resource Filter options, even if you move or resize the compass!

Description:
Azurah enhances the interface by providing additional information and customization options while maintaining most of the stock look and feel of the game's standard UI.

Current Features:
  • NEW: Added Action Bar options to block activation of Mage Light & Expert Hunter (and morphs).
  • NEW: Added a new option "Compass Label Position" to change vertical position of the label text relative to the compass.
  • NEW: Fully customize the compass including moving and resizing, while being fully compatible with Harvest Map!
  • NEW: Separately configure in-combat and out of combat opacity levels for all modified frames.
  • NEW: 'Undo Changes' button and right-click ability to undo changes to single windows since unlock.
  • Unlock the interface windows allowing them to be moved anywhere on the screen and scaled in size.
  • Set a minimum level of transparency for your attributes or have them always shown.
  • Lock the size of your attributes so food no longer makes them larger.
  • Display text overlays showing your and your target's attributes.
  • Show an overlay displaying your current level of Ultimate power.
  • Colour the target's health bar, name and level by its reaction to you, or its expected difficulty.
  • Show target player's class icon (and alliance icon) beside their name
  • Show other players by character name or @account name (or both) and other options.
  • Set an overlay for your experience bar as well as setting it to always be shown.
  • Several options to block accidental stealing when not fully hidden to avoid unwanted bounty.
  • Show when your backpack's contents change with extra options to warn you when your bag is nearly full.
  • Show a timer for the remaining duration of your Werewolf transformation.
  • Ability to enable account wide settings to apply the same choices to all characters on your account.

All of the above features include several options for personalization accessed from the Addon Settings menu under Azurah.
Additionally, the ability to unlock the interface for movement can be accessed via the chat window using the slash commands:

/azurah unlock = unlock UI for movement
/azurah save = lock UI and save positions
/azurah undo = undo all pending changes
/azurah exit = lock UI without saving

Feature for devs:
Warning: Spoiler
Hi all, I’m back and working on addons again. Times are tough and I am desperately in need of financial support at the moment dealing with disability due to a bleeding brain cavernoma and other expenses on less than $600 monthly fixed income. If anyone can help, or knows anyone that can help, or can possibly feature some of my work on their stream to help drive support my way, I would be immensely grateful. It will help me to continue to bring cool content and updates to you all!

Normally if you switch modes, position changes made in Azurah for that mode will be continually reset until manually reloading the UI. This is a workaround for a default UI behavior. - The target's veteran icon will now remain in the same place and the target class icon will adjust itself around it instead.

Re: Fixes...

v2.4.30 ~Phinix
- EXPERIMENTAL: Prevent text label re-appearing with no target when compass is resized.
- Fixed possible errors due to post-hooking handler: Switched to ZO_PreHookHandler.
- Fixed white single pixel showing on load when Active Combat Tip frame is modified.
- Other minor maintenance.
@samsung42 - Please try with the latest version. I believe this MAY be due to post-hooking a handler function. I swapped to using ZO_PreHookHandler for the hook in question which should hopefully resolve the issue.

@Neverlands - Compass label text should now only show when you actually have a target.

@MarcusUK - I have tried extensively to reproduce the double keybind issue you describe. I duplicated your settings EXACTLY, tried with Azurah's hide keybinds on and off, with and without /reloadui, swapping between keyboard and gamepad, teleporting, bar swapping, setting gamepad mode to On/Off/Auto, and many combinations and not once could I get this to happen. All I can say is try it with the latest version and hopefully it is resolved.

Basically it is a very low impact standard UI hook with a built-in limiter for how often it can fire on top of that.

I am not aware of anything Azurah does and certainly not that I have added recently which would be effected by a specific ability or by the map. As I said the only things that are new either do not run past initial startup on game load, or else only fire when the game reports certain conditions, and there are no ability specific or map-related conditions it listens for.

Unfortunately nailing down what addons might be responsible is difficult without experiencing them or having the same addons installed. Plus I don't PVP, and would not really be able to reproduce the conditions you experience this. You can try disabling other addons, starting with other recently updated or added ones, and see if you can get the problem to go away, or try and capture an error even with screenshot and I can at least help see if I can interpret what it indicates even if as is likely the case it ends up being unrelated to Azurah.
Thank you for the follow up, since I PVP mainly on separate characters it is not the end of the world for me. I can just disable it on those characters. I was mostly curious if this was a known issue. Or if it was one of those cases where someone knows about it and you just have to make this small adjustment to X file or setting to fix.

Thanks
I finally got a moment to take a screenshot the errors.

C stack overflow: too many (128) nested C function calls.

stack traceback:
[C]: in function 'PostHookFunction'
And that line repeats a ton of times.

If I disable Azurah I never have that error box pop up. If I do not go into Cyrodiill or battlegrounds with Azurah enabled I never see those errors.

Is it possible one of my other addons is causing this but does not happen when Azurah is disabled? And it is not Azurah?

I was just curious if this points anything in the direction of what might be causing it.

Thanks

@Neverlands - Thanks for the report. For the compass issue, it appears to be a consequence of resizing the compass smaller without proportionally rescaling the pins. The problem is, rescaling compass pins breaks Harvest Map (specifically the spawned resource filter will not work) which is why I do not include this. I will look into an option to switch between "Harvest Map Mode" and normal mode for the compass, so you can switch between a mode that rescales the pins (and allows pin rescaling) and a version that doesn't. Unfortunately a compass resized smaller than default will still have the problem when in Harvest Map Mode, and there doesn't seem to be a clear workaround. Also, it may require a /reloadui when switching modes, but I need to do more research. If not though I can add a keybind to handle the swap.

As for the other issue, this is an unfortunate byproduct of the game not making reliable frame size information available through the API for certain frames. In Azurah, there are additional arguments for those frames in the unlock.lua file which specify dimensions for the mover boxes for those frames. I can look into changing the hard coded dimensions for the alert frame, however I suspect this will vary depending on the font you use, possibly UI scale and other variables and mods, so what works for one setup might cause problems for another. It looks like you can get it pretty close to where you want it, just not perfectly flush with the side.

I'll see if there is a way to work around this but it may end up being more trouble than it's worth. I may be able to dynamically resize drag frames if snap to grid is off and they go past the screen edge, however that would require a lot of "juggle code" to reset the frame size when dragging back, setting a max frame size offset range, setting/un-setting crop to screen, etc. I'll look into it at least.

Since the last update the compass not always but quite often shows the description of a quest mark or a location which I looked at before (the description doesn't go away when looking in another direction). This is somewhat irritating.
I haven't changed anything in the new compass settings.

The other, older issue I have is one with the position of the Alert Text Notification.
I've set the Notification text to be left ligned.
I dragged the window above my chat with a little distance to the edge on the left side.
But everytime after reloading the UI or relogging, the window is again at the very left edge.
Maybe it has to do that in the little menu, which you see when the UI is unlocked, there is always the option "Disable Snap to Grid"? I disabled it many times, but it always switches back.

This is where I would like to have the Alert Text Notification:
Warning: Spoiler

And this is where it switches back to:
Warning: Spoiler

Re: Issues with Azurah after updating a week ago with PVP sprecifically.

@silver1surfer69 - My bad, the separate opacity settings I was meaning are for the ATTRIBUTE bars on the tab for those. The action bar cannot have it's opacity set due to complications with how ZOS handles the animations for bar swaps and fading in/out the bar in different situations not being accessible for modders to manipulate efficiently. But the game already has the ability to only show the action bar when in combat, if you set the display to Auto under the game's Combat settings.

As for the other issue, do you use Action Duration Reminder? It is not currently compatible with a resized action bar and will cause the cooldown frame to break and show four disconnected lines over buttons on cooldown.

Issues with Azurah after updating a week ago with PVP sprecifically.

Anyone else start having an issue in PVP Cyrodiil specific?

Seems to be triggered by dark convergence. Before updating Azurah like a week ago never had the issue, updating like a week ago anytime someone would lay down dark convergence the stuttering would be crazy and would not stop till you die, eventually you would see errors in the background. And sometimes the game would crash. Not sure if one of my other addons silences the errors causing the stuttering. After updating a couple days ago to the most current version of Azurah, those issues stopped but still weird things happen only in Cyrodiil for me. Where eventually some error will pop up when viewing the map if you stay there long enough. Then they come back anytime the map pops up. Disabling Azurah and all issues seem to go away. I know it could be some other addon but only noticed it since updating Azurah and it goes away if I disable it. I also use a gamepad.

Do not see any issues in PVE content so far.

Sorry I don't have the specific errors. First wanted to check if this was a known current issue, I can enable it can get them.

@shadowqaz - I will take a look, but probably it is part of an unnecessary disabling of overlays in general in UI mode that happened a long while back which I recently undid for most things, but apparently not the boss bar. In the meantime you might take a look at this addon which also lets you track multiple bosses. I haven't personally used it but it looks pretty solid and the author's other mod for player attributes works with Azurah. AlternativeBossBar

@MarcusUK - Thanks, that is useful information. It looks like ZOS is trying to force-display not just keybinds but alt keybinds as well. I will have to track down where they are doing this, probably a scene fragment. In my tests it never occurred to me to add a second keybind to these features, so that should really help nail down a fix.
Tyvm mate for your reply! Couldnt find the opacity option in Action Bar Tab in settings.
And i have another problem, after changing size of action bar, then save and then reloadui there are like little squares in the squares of the abilities (if i do not reloadui after save i dont get these).

How to change action bar opacity or size? There is no option to choose from...

How to change action bar opacity or size after moving it? There is no option to choose from in the drop down under "choose frame to edit" in UI FRAME OPTIONS.

And Quest Tracker Frame position isnt saved (neither after pressing save or typing in chat) and resets itself after reloadui. (EDIT: after some time it jumps to the position where i moved it but after a new reloadui its resetted again.)

Ty!

In that video I'm manually switching between kb/m and gamepad modes so that you can see how the ultimate icons change either due to swapping modes, moving the character or turning the keybinds on/off in settings. As you could see, when I turn them off and back on again they looked right, including showing my custom binds under the center of the ultimate boxes rather than the default ones on the corners of the boxes, but as soon as I moved the bug reasserted itself and the double-icons show. ZOS have somehow coded their default settings to keep showing on screen, and those are what need suppressing.

Let me break it down into the gamepad settings and the 3 results I'm seeing, as shown in the video.

ZOS's Default settings

My Custom settings

When Action bar displays Default binds only - wrong

When Action bar displays Defaults + Custom binds - bugged

When Action bar displays my Custom binds only - right

I'm mainly seeing the first one after fast travelling/loading with defaults only, the double-icon effect after switching between modes, and the third one never except during the tests to turn icons off/on.

In your last version the second one was prevalent, double-icon was always only there, now we get three results depending on what's being done to affect them. For some reason, ZOS's defaults like to force themselves onto the bar regardless of custom rebinds, except straight after turning the icons back on but before moving. If there was some way of "capturing" the result of that and denying ZOS's defaults reappearing it'd be fine. Or maybe there are different functions for drawing the default binds versus custom binds that are causing these issues which either the API or your addon are not handling?

It will require testing to see if there is any way to bypass/force the game to use gamepad mode action bar all the time even when using mouse/keyboard functions in gamepad mode, but from my experience with ZOS's gamepad action bar code almost everything is obfuscated behind local functions and there isn't much available to hook into. I will what I can do though.

@ExoY - Actually gamepad and keyboard are coded completely different in the game and behave differently. The hooks are to keep gamepad mode keybinds hidden. Lots of people requested I add the feature. Keyboard has always worked fine with Azurah for years. If you download the esoui source files you can see that a large percent of the game's LUA base is coded separately for keyboard and gamepad modes, with sometimes radically different code functions and behaviors.

That is why you have to hook into these callbacks and either augment them, or in the case with bar swap and other animations not accessible globally, bypass them through other means.

Ok thats weird, because what I have described is literally all i do and they never pop-up again.
(at least for keyboard, havnt done much with gamepad yet)

Edit: I just did a test to varify my claim... I deaktivated all addons and then used the code i posted earlier manually. I can confirm that they dont pop up by any of the tasks you described.

So if all those actions unhide it for you, it must be due to an addon.
