Version: 2.4.45
by: Kith, Garkin, Phinix, Sounomi
Azurah

(PM Phinix with improved translations!)

REQUIRED LIBRARIES: LibAddonMenu LibMediaProvider

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the action bar or other items are not saving position when moving in gamepad mode, you MUST /reloadui after changing modes before Azurah will work! This is due to a game engine limitation where internal references that share names are not updated completely until a reload (see Misc section of Azurah's general tab.) Azurah has an option to automatically reload when swapping modes.

UPDATE: Azurah is now fully compatible with Harvest Map, including the Spawned Resource Filter options, even if you move or resize the compass!

Description:
Azurah enhances the interface by providing additional information and customization options while maintaining most of the stock look and feel of the game's standard UI.

Current Features:
  • NEW: Added Action Bar options to block activation of Mage Light & Expert Hunter (and morphs).
  • NEW: Added a new option "Compass Label Position" to change vertical position of the label text relative to the compass.
  • NEW: Fully customize the compass including moving and resizing, while being fully compatible with Harvest Map!
  • NEW: Separately configure in-combat and out of combat opacity levels for all modified frames.
  • NEW: 'Undo Changes' button and right-click ability to undo changes to single windows since unlock.
  • Unlock the interface windows allowing them to be moved anywhere on the screen and scaled in size.
  • Set a minimum level of transparency for your attributes or have them always shown.
  • Lock the size of your attributes so food no longer makes them larger.
  • Display text overlays showing your and your target's attributes.
  • Show an overlay displaying your current level of Ultimate power.
  • Colour the target's health bar, name and level by its reaction to you, or its expected difficulty.
  • Show target player's class icon (and alliance icon) beside their name
  • Show other players by character name or @account name (or both) and other options.
  • Set an overlay for your experience bar as well as setting it to always be shown.
  • Several options to block accidental stealing when not fully hidden to avoid unwanted bounty.
  • Show when your backpack's contents change with extra options to warn you when your bag is nearly full.
  • Show a timer for the remaining duration of your Werewolf transformation.
  • Ability to enable account wide settings to apply the same choices to all characters on your account.

All of the above features include several options for personalization accessed from the Addon Settings menu under Azurah.
Additionally, the ability to unlock the interface for movement can be accessed via the chat window using the slash commands:

/azurah unlock = unlock UI for movement
/azurah save = lock UI and save positions
/azurah undo = undo all pending changes
/azurah exit = lock UI without saving

Feature for devs:
Warning: Spoiler
Hi all, I’m back and working on addons again. Times are tough and I am desperately in need of financial support at the moment dealing with disability due to a bleeding brain cavernoma and other expenses on less than $600 monthly fixed income. If anyone can help, or knows anyone that can help, or can possibly feature some of my work on their stream to help drive support my way, I would be immensely grateful. It will help me to continue to bring cool content and updates to you all!

Normally if you switch modes, position changes made in Azurah for that mode will be continually reset until manually reloading the UI. This is a workaround for a default UI behavior. - The target's veteran icon will now remain in the same place and the target class icon will adjust itself around it instead.

@MarcusUK - From your video what looks to be happening is that, like the button bind icons switching to keybinds when you activate cursor mode or hit a keyboard/mouse function, the game seems to be swapping the entire action bar to keyboard mode. So it isn't the problem of icons not scaling within their borders (thought that was you having that issue but it was someone else, and /reloadui after scaling fixes that one).

It will require testing to see if there is any way to bypass/force the game to use gamepad mode action bar all the time even when using mouse/keyboard functions in gamepad mode, but from my experience with ZOS's gamepad action bar code almost everything is obfuscated behind local functions and there isn't much available to hook into. I will what I can do though.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Update & feedback...

@ExoY - Actually gamepad and keyboard are coded completely different in the game and behave differently. The hooks are to keep gamepad mode keybinds hidden. Lots of people requested I add the feature. Keyboard has always worked fine with Azurah for years. If you download the esoui source files you can see that a large percent of the game's LUA base is coded separately for keyboard and gamepad modes, with sometimes radically different code functions and behaviors.

Ok thats weird, because what I have described is literally all i do and they never pop-up again.
(at least for keyboard, havnt done much with gamepad yet)

Edit: I just did a test to varify my claim... I deaktivated all addons and then used the code i posted earlier manually. I can confirm that they dont pop up by any of the tasks you described.

So if all those actions unhide it for you, it must be due to an addon.

Not only does the new hook only run when it needs to, but it will also buffer running one cycle per update and not for each button on the bar. You may see the button bindings pop up for a split second when switching between using keyboard controls and gamepad, but otherwise they should remain hidden and avoid the performance issue.
For the past few hours I've been running the newest version and thus far have not had any problems... no lag and no 'stack overflow' errors. So far so good. <crossing fingers>

Yep, I've been manually clicking Lock UI, I've also tried /azurah save, the windows are always back in their default position upon relaunch. I've checked to make sure Azurah is up to date as well through Minion, and still nothing.

Hi, I only read part of the discussion to be honest, but hiding the action bar keybinds is relatively straight forward. I do it with:
Lua Code:
  1. for x = 3, 9 do
  2.       _G['ActionButton' .. x .. 'ButtonText']:SetHidden(true)
  3.   end
which is executed each time the 'EVENT_PLAYER_ACTIVATED' is triggered. Works without a problem and no hooks are required.

This one also hides the background, and only needs to be executed during the first player activated event after an reload
Lua Code:
  1. ZO_ActionBar1KeybindBG:SetAlpha(0)

It should be relatively straight forward to adapt this approach for console key binds as well.

Sorry to say it's not working at all for me as you describe. Because it's hard to explain, I've simply recorded a bit of footage and uploaded it here showing how the icons change when I do any of 3 things: move, switch modes, turn icons off/on. The only time the icons look right is at 0:59 when I reapply icons, but as soon as I start moving the camera or character the outer icons reappear.

@diamond_10 - Sounds like an additional issue is happening. Are you in keyboard or gamepad mode when it happens? I tried reproducing it in keyboard mode with different scales, in combat, out of combat, casting different things, and it wasn't happening for me. I can try some different scenarios but it would help to know which mode to focus on.
i play in 2k res, on 110 fov, and standard ultra settings. also on a necromancer but you can see that by the skill bar. hope that helps. i did try reloadui and even though it immediately fixes it, it comes back.

Update & feedback...

v2.4.29 ~Phinix
- Added a new option: "Compass Label Position." This allows you to change the vertical position of the label text relative to the compass up or down.
- Improved hooks for hiding button binds in gamepad mode, eliminating bugs and performance issues.
- Added warning to the main settings tab that you MUST /reloadui after changing action bar scale to avoid visual button scale bugs.
- Added warning to the main settings tab that you MUST /reloadui when switching between keyboard and gamepad mode BEFORE making changes to frames with Azurah.
- Various other cleanup, improvements, and maintenance behind the scenes.
@A_Darklore, @MarcusUK - Please test with the latest version. I completely rebuilt the hooks for hiding keybinds. It appears that showing them is hard coded in an inaccessible part of the bar swap animations. Also in my previous attempted workaround I see now that it was triggering not just when the bar changed but when each button changed, resulting in running the visual update for the entire action bar for each button on the action bar, which was causing the UI to lock up under load. Not only does the new hook only run when it needs to, but it will also buffer running one cycle per update and not for each button on the bar. You may see the button bindings pop up for a split second when switching between using keyboard controls and gamepad, but otherwise they should remain hidden and avoid the performance issue.

@diamond_10 - In further testing this seems related to the same hard game requirement that you /reloadui after changing between keyboard and gamepad mode before attempting to modify UI elements. In this case, after changing the action bar scale you must /reloadui or bar swapping will cause the buttons to scale incorrectly. After reload however it works correctly in my testing. I added a warning to the main tab or Azurah's addon settings about this.

@JoshuaNLG - Are you sure you are clicking the "Lock UI (Save)" button to exit moving and not "Exit Without Saving?" I just tested moving both of these frames and they stay where I put them after reload. NOTE: You can use the Toggle Cursor Mode button (default ".") to move your mouse around the UI to click the save button.

Hello, I'm having an issue with positions not remaining where i've placed them upon reopening the game.

I'm not using gamepad mode (though i have tried using it to see if the fix you mentioned would work) and still I'm unable to get the windows to stay.

The only two windows I'm moving are the Quest Tracker and Active Combat Tips, but upon relaunching the game they're back in their default positions.

I'm new to the game, so I don't know if I'm missing something or not, perhaps one of my other addons is conflicting with this? The associated files aren't set to Read only, but i'm not sure what else to check.

Stuttering and Lag w/Ultimates and Synergies

I've noticed the past couple days that whenever I try to activate a synergy or even use an ultimate, the game will stutter for about 2-3 seconds and sometimes the ultimate will not even cast. I've also started having 'C stack overflow' errors every so often which completely locks the keyboard UI but I can still use the gamepad to move- but it will no longer offer the interact options. Normally what happens when I get the 'C stack overflow' is that the UI will completely lock up- and while I can move around with gamepad- I cannot get any options to come up on screen. I then do a 'F10' which is my reloadui addon keybind, and when it reloads, I get the big screen window with the error codes referencing the 'C stack overflow'. I have to force quit the game when this happens because the UI won't allow me any options to log out.

IMO, there seems to be a major issue with the recent Azurah changes and the gamepad UI... as I use the gamepad mode on Automatic. I believe most times I've received the 'C stack overflow' it's been when I've tried interacting with something switching between gamepad to keyboard mode. Several times when doing dolmen runs and trying to activate the Wayshrine... so it's switching from movement (gamepad) to interaction (keyboard)... I never use gamepad mode for wayshrines. I've also had the 'C stack overflow' occur when I was trying to hold gamepad button to access the level up screen.

I went back to Azurah v 2.4.25 and so far I've not had any problems...the stuttering is gone and 'so far' no 'C stack overflow' errors.

UPDATE: I was actually still having the stuttering problem when trying to activate Ultimate or Synergies with 2.4.25 so I went back to 2.4.24 and so far none of the above noted problems.

Yep.

EDIT: Hmm, I've just gone back into the game and tried moving the bars again and it saved this time with no bug catcher logs. I know I was using /reloadui because I added your S'rendarr addon earlier and spent a bit of time setting that up when I decided to nudge my stats bars a bit closer to the center. So not sure what's going on there. Maybe something to do with that caused the bug? Will see if I can replicate it.

EDIT 2: Nope, no luck replicating it. Tried using S'rendarr then Azurah back and forth like I did earlier to align the elements, but I got no bugs this time. So not sure what cause the one I posted earlier.

Could you also please try to replicate something else, which relates to that double icon bug we had last week with the Ultimate binds.

Assuming you have a controller, can you go into your Controls settings and rebind "Activate Synergy" to pressing Left Stick + Right Stick down together - this will warn that Command Pet uses that, but go ahead, then rebind "Command Pet" (which also activates the Companion Ultimate) to contoller buttons Y + B. See what happens to your Companion Ultimate icons, if anything. Curious to see if you end up with the same similar double-icon bug I now have where there are the LS/RS icons still showing on the outside and new Y/B icons on the inside on the companion ultimate action bar box.

If you also get this, it might help you figure out why these double icons are appearing. Methinks ZOS have coded something into the way ultimate icons display that is not being carried properly into the API for modders to work with, as I tried removing lines 100-102 in ActionBar.lua to see what would happen and the Y+B icons disappeared leaving the RS+LS, even though they're the wrong icons.

Code:
-- special case for hiding companion ultimate button text
	_G['CompanionUltimateButtonButtonText']:SetAlpha(db.hideBindText and 0 or 1)
	_G['CompanionUltimateButtonButtonText']:SetHidden(db.hideBindText)
