Global Cooldown (GCD) Bar  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.6
by: Wheels [More]
Required libraries: LibAddonMenu

Description:

Another Andy.s inspired addon! I'm beginning to sense a theme here...

This addon adds a bar to your screen that shows the remaining time on your global cooldown after doing anything that affects it. This allows you to get a better idea of when your game is ready to take the next action input, even when you may not be able to see your character's animation clearly.

To make it clear, this addon does not track cast times or channel times, only the global cooldown.

To see the basic functionality, take a look at Andy's original version in his video (it's the red bar in the bottom center).

There is also an option to enable the Action Bar GCD animations that the game already has, but doesn't seem to include a setting for (other than a slash command). There are also options for size/position/color of the bar obviously. When it's unlocked, moving it can sometimes be a little weird, but it works trust me, just keep clicking. I swear. It definitely works. Usually.

Version 2.6:
  • API bump for Markarth

Version 2.5:
  • The GCD 'bar' itself can now be disabled if you just want the radial skill cooldowns on your skill bars

Version 2.4:
  • Removed reference to libstub in the menu

Version 2.3:
  • API bump for Greymoor

Version 2.2:
  • API bump for Greymoor

Version 2.1:
  • Fixed an issue where the bar would not work if you had necro siphon as the first ability on your bar
  • Smoothed bar animation
  • Temporarily removed the fast settings

Version 1.2:
  • Changed how resizing works, can now resize any dimension individually
  • Advanced fast GCD option added
  • Reverse bar option added
  • Bar timing more consistent now (thanks Andy!)

Version 1.1:
  • Added 'fast GCD' option to simulate a 900ms GCD

How to move the box?

"When it's unlocked, moving it can sometimes be a little weird, but it works trust me, just keep clicking." I have not a clue what you mean by "unlocked". I just installed this and it put it high in the center-left of my screen and I hate it. I've clicked and clicked and clicked but it never moves. What am I missing here? I've disabled it for now out of sheer frustration.

Lines 58-59 in the GCDBarUI.lua file:

Code:
gbBack:SetCenterColor(0, 0, 0, .25)
gbBack:SetEdgeColor(0, 0, 0, .25)
Change the ".25" to 0, and POOF! No grey background!

While I'd also appreciate an official update for account wide settings, here is a quick fix:
Just replace line 56:
Lua Code:
  1. gb.savedVars = ZO_SavedVars:NewCharacterIdSettings("GCDBarSavedVars", 1, nil, defaults)
with this:
Lua Code:
  1. gb.savedVars = ZO_SavedVars:NewAccountWide("GCDBarSavedVars", 1, nil, defaults)

The skill bar effects are a zos thing yes, you can probably modify how it looks somehow but I haven't looked into it and have no advice currently. Take a look in the ESO source code.

For a shameful long time the global cooldown kept me from having more DPS - until I was recommended this Addon. Thank you very much, your efforts are highly appreciated!

Since other actions (i.e. mounting the horse) also trigger the GCD, an option for hiding the bar while out of combat would be great!

While you may have the latest version installed, this error is coming from an embedded outdated version of LAM withing ChampionPointRespec. This is not related to GCDBar.

Remove Background

Love this Add-On, but would it be possible to get the option to remove the background bar, or hide entirely when out of combat? I like this located right under my cursor, but it can be a bit intrusive when outside of combat.

Thanks.
