Journal Quest Log  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.3.6
by: Enodoc [More]
Have you ever wanted to know what quests you've completed, and which ones you have yet to complete? Well now you can!

Features
  • List of all quests by Zone/Category
  • List quests alphabetically or by Status
  • Quests that are greyed out require a DLC that you do not own
  • Quests that are possible to miss are shown in yellow
  • Repeatable Quests are shown in blue
  • Missed Quests are shown in red
Navigate to the new Quest Log tab in the Journal. All quests are listed, sorted by category/zone, including any quests completed before the add-on was installed.

Library Dependencies
You must download these libraries for the add-on to work!
In Development
  • Mouse-over pop-ups for extended information about a particular quest. Comments please if there's anything you'd like to see here!

Known Issues
  • Unknown Quest: The game is registering a quest you have completed, but the game has no data for this quest. A quest with zo_questId 1230 is a common Unknown Quest which appears on older characters.
  • Some quests may show up under the wrong zone header. This is most likely a bug with the game data for that quest, rather than the add-on.
  • Some quests are showing as Group Quests when they are not. It is currently unclear whether this is an issue with the data logger or with the quest data itself.
  • Extended categories for Quest Log and Active Quests currently disabled.

Important Notes
  • The list of Not Completed quests requires the LibUespQuestData library, since the API does not provide this information directly. Please also download uespLog to help keep the database up-to-date. Due to the number of quests, this feature is not fully tested - please leave any suggestions or issues in the Comments tab.
  • Please note this add-on is not currently compatible with the Gamepad UI. If anyone would like to make a patch, please go ahead!

Many thanks to eventHandler for Version 0.1.0, whose code was instrumental in getting me over the issue I was having with category filters!

Many thanks to Alianym for the basis of the code which now enables the Quest Log to open at your current zone.

Please leave any feedback in the comments, and let me know of any more features you'd like to see.

Localization
French localization by XXXspartiateXXX
Japanese localization prior to Version 1.3 by Calamath

    • Known Issue: The drop-down doesn't show properly when reopening to a Not Completed category.

Version 1.1.0

Anyways, my biggest problem with questing is that I like to do content on multiple characters but would prefer not to repeat quests (especially side quests). Once I have done it on one character, I would like to avoid it on all others, but it's hard to remember which ones I have done already. Would it be possible to add one or more of these features to your addon?
  • Add an option we can turn on or off to change the color of non-repeatable quests (from white to red or something) for quests ANY of our other characters have already completed?
  • Add a drop down list that includes our other characters so we can see their quest journals as well?
  • (This one may be for different addon all together): Add some kind of indicator with the quest NPC's themselves, letting us know if we have already completed their quest on another character... such as changing the quest text of our "responses" to the color red. Our responses are the only thing I see as quest text because I use AkOsNoWrittenDialogue.

I realize this is a lot to ask, but I thought I would put it out there. For quite some time I've wanted an addon that allows me to avoid quests I have already done on other characters and no matter how much I look for it, no one seems to be making anything that will do this.

Thanks for reading!
That's not something that I'd thought about. I imagine that for this, there would need to be a saved variables file that we could write all completed quests from one character into which would then be read when on another character. Can't promise anything but I'll add it to the list of suggestions.

(If anyone else wants to make this as a patch in the meantime, go ahead!)

Yep, just a list!
Any plans to add map markers for uncompleted quests?
No plans for this, as neither the API nor the UESP database provides viable location data. I would recommend Captain Blagbird's Quest Map, but I don't know if it's up-to-date.

it isn't, infact it's a year outdated and doesn't work for multiple regions in the game. The Addon Author also went silent as of 4 months ago. So it's uncertain whether it'll ever get updated.

I like your addon, it is very usefull! Thx for this.

I have three questions:

I'm playing on German. Completed quests are in German, but not completed are in English. Is there a way to change that?

Also: How can i highlight different quest types besides dailies, f. e. battlefield or dungeon quests?

And last but not least: Is there a way to hide (dropdown or something) completed quests, so that i can primally focus on not completed quests?

Thanks for reading!

Not Completed in English - someone would have to upload a localization file for the quest names, as the UESP database is itself in English. The basework for this is ready (thanks to Calamath) but not yet implemented.

Battleground quests should have their own category already; Dungeon quests can be split into their own category but I need to enable that setting.

I could potentially add a setting to completely disable the list of Completed Quests, but they're in separate groups already and it's supposed to reopen at the tab you were last looking at, so if you were looking at Not Completed Glenumbra it will reopen at Not Completed Glenumbra (even though the list itself for some reason doesn't show which tab is active - if anyone knows how to fix that, let me know!).

Missed Quests

Hi, your addon keeps getting better with each update. I do have a comment for Missed Quests however. It's a great addition, but there can be a number of reasons that a Missed Quest cannot be done, and not just because it was overlooked. On occasion a quest may not be offered if another quest has already been done, which is often the case with breadcrumb-type quests. Other times, there may be 2 or more quests that are mutually exclusive, based on player choices made during the quests. An example is the Auridon quest All the Fuss. It is offered only if Ensuring Security is not completed. It is also mutually exclusive with Missive to the Queen. And then further, Missive to the Queen also isn't offered if Ensuring Security is completed. For this one zone, I have 4 quests showing now under Not Completed, that I'm unable to complete.

It can be confusing if all quests that are Not Completed are listed together and in the same color without any distinctions or notations, if some can still be completed while others cannot. I'm not sure what kind of solution could be arranged, but I wanted to mention it to you.

Thanks for a great addon.

Thanks for the feedback! In theory, none of the ones that are showing in red can still be completed; only those that show in white can be completed now. This includes both those situations where pointer quests have been missed, and situations when a mutually-exclusive option has already been taken. But that was all coded manually so I may have overlooked something.

In your example, All the Fuss goes red if you have already completed Ensuring Security or Missive to the Queen, and Missive to the Queen goes red if you have already completed Ensuring Security or All the Fuss, which would be correct. I will see if I can look into how to do pop-ups though, as then I would be able to add more information. Things like "This quest is unavailable because you have already completed X".

I've been thinking about something like only having 1 zone list and the user could toggle to show Completed or Not completed quests somewhere near the counter (maybe below?).
Because right now there are basically 2 zone lists, one for completed and for not completed which makes it rather long, and there is also the thing you mentioned before where it always shows the completed list when reopening the interface.
Also I've noticed that in Craglorn I have Elemental Army, Slithering Brood, The Missing Guardian and The Time-Lost Warrior in my Not completed list, even thought they are also in my Completed list (they are not repeatable quests).

So having a filter on one list, rather than two separate lists? Yeah that could work.

The Craglorn thing has happened because ZOS reset Craglorn in Update 12 and changed the IDs for a bunch of quests, so it's recording a few of the old versions of quests that are now impossible to complete. I'll have to remember to add those to a list of special excludes.

Gamepad Menu Support?

This addon is wonderful! I'm currently unable to use k/m due to my setup, however, so I'm forced to use a controller. Is there any way to make this compatible with the Gamepad Menu, please?

No promises, because I don't know how the Gamepad menu works, but I can certainly have a look!

Hey! first thing, awesome addon! we are gathering missing data for QuestMap and this addon realy helped me find every quest in the zone!

i only have 2 request!
1: would it be possible to put red quests into the completed category? since they cant be completed, and zone is done, it is still under not completed category. i would realy like to see zone not kept in not completed category coz of missed quests. i would like to see not completed empty one day, but its not possible coz of missed quests!
2: when i press J and go to this addons tab, close the jurnal and reopen it, it automaticly goes to addon tab with a bit od stutter. would it be possible to go to Quests even tho it was on addon tab when i closed it?
(sorry for bad english, hope u understan what i mean!)

Edit: just saw u guys were talking about QuestMap in the comments! Sharlikran took over the addon, and we have been adding pins for last month or so, alot is already added and we are still activly adding more! all the missing zones should be added relativly soon! and u guys can help, visit QuestMap or LibQuestInfo for more information!

Edit 2: i was just thinking, could 2 addons work together? like could as soon as quest turns red in this addon hide the map pins for that quest in QuestMap?

Hey there! Thanks for the feedback. Following on from another comment further down, I will be combining the two separate "Completed" and "Not Completed" lists into one "All Quests" list that has more options (including an option to hide the red "missed quests"). The next update also changes when the list refreshes so it will no longer stick on loading the Quest Log every time (this will now happen on Quest Completion instead).

It could be possible for the add-ons to work together but that would probably involve a patch which relies on both as the connector.
