Circonians BuffTracker  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.8
by: circonian, prasoc
BETA
This addon is in beta.

What does it do? (See Pictures)
Displays buff/debuff effects your character has on them, alerts you when you need to buff, and alerts you when you receive special buff/effects.
Buff Bar: Displays all buffs your character currently has.
Debuff Bar: Displays all debuffs your character currently has.
Buff Alert Bar: Allows you to set any ability/effect as a "Buff Alert" and it will display in the buff alert bar whenever you do NOT have that buff on you to remind you to buff up.
Proc Alert Bar: Allows you to set any ability/effect as a "Proc Alert" and it will display in the proc alert bar whenever your character receives the effect.

To add abilities/effects as buff or proc alerts right click on any ability icon when it appears in the Buff Bar and choose "Add Buff Alert" or "Add Proc Alert"
You can also right click on the icons in any of the buff, debuff, or alert bars to remove the ability/effect from buff/proc alerts
You can also open the skills window to view a list of ability/effects you currently have set as buff or proc alerts. There you can also right click on any of the ability/effects in the Buff/Proc Alerts window to remove them from the buff or proc alerts.

Other Features
Remaining Effect Time: Icons will be shaded in with a clockwise animation as the remaining time left on the effect counts down.
Ability Icon Alignment: Ability Icons can be displayed horizontally or vertically.
Bar Alignment: Bars can be aligned left or right for easy placement on either side of the screen.
Ability Names: You can display (or hide) the names of the abilities. The ability names can be placed on the left or right of the icons for easy placement on either side of the screen. Ability names can only be displayed when the bar is vertical.
Ability Name Fonts: The font, font size, & font color used for the ability names can be adjusted.
Icon Sizes: The size of the icons can be adjusted.
Locks: Buff bars can be locked in place.
Hidden: If you do not wish to use/see all of the bars you can hide the ones you do not wish to use.

Future Plans?
When I'm satisfied there are no issues with the current version I will add an effects bar for targets.
Version 1.8 -- Added Requests

Format Cooldown Timer Added requested to format the cooldown timer to: xx h xx m xx s instead of showing something like 128 for 128 seconds it will now show 2m 8s
Font Outlines Added the ability to select font outlines for the cooldown timer & ability names.
Version 1.7 --

Debug Msgs I accidently left some debug messages in the code for version 1.6 that were spamming the chat screen. It should be fixed.
Version 1.6 -- Added Requests

Reversed Radial Cooldown Per request I reversed the radial cooldown direction so the radial or border cooldown to match the games default cooldown direction (like the radial cooldown when drinking potions).
Bar Hopping Fixed a problem that was sometimes causing the bar title to hop around when the first buff was shown or last buff was removed.
Sticky Effects Fixed a problem where some effects with cooldowns could sometimes get stuck on the screen because they wore off while you were zoning and the game does not tell the addon that the effect was removed.
Version 1.5 -- Added Requests

Cooldown Color & AlphaAdded the ability to change the color & alpha of the radial cooldown.
Cooldown Borders Ability to change the visual radial cooldown (that shades the icon in a circular pattern) to a border around the icon.Cooldown Border ThicknessAdded the ability to change the thickness of the radial cooldown border.
Blocking Buff Icon Added an option in the settings menu to hide the blocking buff since you can't block & use the mouse to right click/hide it yourself.
Version 1.3--
Due to the changes made for bug fixes, this version will reset your saved variables.

Bug Fixes Fixed a few bugs including: Alerts stopped working when an ability ranked up, cooldown visual effect resetting when swapping bars (although it always kept the correct time the animation would restart with a shorter duration).
Text Timers Added an option to also show text timers on the icons for the time left on buffs. You can choose the font, size, & color of the text.
Alert Sounds Added an option to play sounds when a proc alert or buff alert happens. You can choose different buff/proc alert sounds. If anyone has any suggestions on sounds they would like me to add for this, let me know.
Alert Sound Time Offset Setting Added an option to adjust when buff alert sounds play. For example you can set the time for 0-5 seconds to play the sound 0-5 seconds BEFORE the buff actually wears off to alert you a little in advance of the buff wearing off.
Version 1.2--

Ability Names Fixed ability names not formatting properly in other languages.
Hide Bar Titles Fixed the Buff Alert & Proc alert bar titles. They would not stay hidden when you reloaded the ui.
Version 1.19--

API Update
Hide Bar Titles Added an option to show/hide bar titles. Locking a bar previously hid the bar title. I separate that into two settings: Lock/Unlock the bar & Hide/Show bar title.
Version 1.18 --

Bug Fix Fixed a bug where a variable was accidently declared global and was sometimes being overwritten by other addons causing an error.
Version 1.17 --

Unfortunately due to an error I made in the code it was causing some corrupted saved variable data which caused duplicate entries in the scroll list for some users. In order to ensure that the corrupted data is wiped out your saved settings will be wiped.
Bug Fix Fixed a bug where some of the scrollList data was not being cleared out properly.
Duplicate Entries The duplicate entry problem should now be fixed.
Version 1.15 --

Bug Fix Fixed a bug where bars were not hiding properly when disabled.
Version 1.14 -- Added Requested Features

Due to the new bar growth direction & the required changes in the settings menu to accommodate it you may need to reset your preferred settings in the settings menu for the new Growth Direction & and Horizontal Alignment.
Bar Growth Up Buff bars can now be set to grow in any direction: Left, Right, Down, & now also Up. This means which direction/side new icons are added to.
Hidden Effects Added the option to hide effects. NOTE: When hidden the effects can still appear on the buff alert & proc alert bar. This is intentional!!!! That way if you only want to see that armor buff on the buff alert bar when you forget to buff up you can see it there, but you have the ability to hide it from the main buff bar. If you don't want to see them on the buff/proc alert bar then remove the buff/proc alert :P
Hidden Effects Menu Added another button to the menu bar to show which effects you currently have hidden. If you hide an effect it will not show up on the buff bar. You can unhide it from the Hidden Effects Menu panel.
Version 1.12 --

Bug Fix Fixed a bug introduced in version 1.11 where zoning would cause multiple buttons to appear in the menu BuffTracker menu bar.
Version 1.11 --

Code Changes Code changes to the shared skills panel to provide compatibility with my new SetSwap addon allowing them to share the same window/panel.
Version 1.1 --

Settings Menu Clarifications Changed some of the text in the settings menu to clarify things a little better.
Left/Right Horizontal Alignment Added the ability to adjust the Left/Right alignment of bars while in horizontal mode to allow the bar to grow/shrink in the desired direction.

Ah yeah, I thought they were necessary so people could see the bars when there are no buffs on the bar & so they could tell which one was which. I tried to make them smaller, but I felt the font size was just to small to read.

They do hide when you lock the bars, although I can change that and separate it into two different options: One to lock the bar & one to hide the bar title.

Unfortunately, I always receive an error while having bufftracker enabled when I BLOCK - sometimes also when I use skills. I use the German client and here is my error-message:

Checking type on argument anchorTargetControl failed in LabelControlSetAnchorLua

I would really appreciate a solution so I can finally use this fantastic addon.

Best regards,
@Aiden_DE
I found it. There was a variable accidently declared global which means every other addon had access to it and someone else, in some other addon, must have done the same thing. They were overwriting each other which is what caused the error. It should be fixed now.

Posted Version 1.18
Great work - thanks Circonian.

Another couple of questions I asked myself:

1. Is it possible to "shorten" Buff names ? Some of them are very long (such as tri-stat food)
2. Is it possible to also have a coutdown-timer inside/above/below the symbol ?
3. Probably nothing to do with Bufftracker itself, but in the German client, there is often a "^p, ^f, ^m" following the skill names. Any idea how to get rid of that ?

One more thing I noticed: The ProcBar resets visibility of the header each time a /reloadui is performed, thus always showing it even if you selected "hide" in the options.

Good addon. Because Garkin retired from ESO need another addon instead Srendarr updated because Srendarr after Orsinium had some bug and some short buffs without textures.Questions:

1. Srendarr shows "short buffs" (like Erupion) but your addon not. Do you add short buffs feature in your addon?
2. I can't change position of buff window (with food, boon and other long buffs) to right edge of screen even I disable buff names in settings. Can you make setting to show names by left side from icons. And can you make pop-up buff names if I hover mouse on buff icon (if names disabled in settings)?

Hi,

you can show names on left side from the icon. You just have to change the "horizontal alignment" in the options.

I incorrectly said that I do not have or do not quite understand.
The setting of the text found and was able to move the window to the right place. And probably of the rest of my issues is solved, but either I did not understand how, or something still need to finish Let me explain with screenshots:

1. http://firepic.org/?v=5.2015-11-04_4kxpkgsudoj3.jpg - to do the ability to display the short buffs in a separate window, as is done in Srendarr if already we are looking for a replacement (functionality )
2. http://firepic.org/?v=5.2015-11-04_1wz1yrdsv9g7.jpg - buffs name in the popup window, and display the remaining time on the icon.
3. http://firepic.org/?v=5.2015-11-04_7qexuokur0av.jpg - difference display buffs and debuffs between the two compared addons. In Srendarr window debuffs shown that this addon called buff alerts should be customized to remind about how to hang the dot when it comes to an end, but by dragging icons skill, giving the desired dot settings window buff alerts I could not add anything, probably something wrong doing. Below screenshot shows another window that displays Srendarr buffs and debuffs, hanging on target. No similar window in this addon as I see. Good idea to make this.
4. http://firepic.org/?v=5.2015-11-04_gx1l39imh9v1.jpg - Srendarr's the problem about which I have written, but, as it turned out, not only in Srendarr. Debuffs without icons. Need fix (add icons?).

1) Yes, but I'm going to have to think about what the best way to handle it will be so that users can choose the length.
2) Possible, yes. As it stands now, I don't do anything with the time. The visual countdown time that is shown is handled by the game. I think that would require a lot of extra code to do the countdown myself, keeping track of all of the different countdowns, which countdown belongs to which buff, & a few other things it would require. I'll think about it and see if I can't come up with an easier way of handling it.

3 & 4 are fixed.

1) No BuffTracker does not separate long term buffs from short term buffs. I didn't see any reason for it. Will I add that feature? I don't know. It doesn't sound very useful.

2A) Buff Names on Mouse over, Yes I will add that.

2B) Remaining Time on icon. Some older addons were designed to handle the time themselves because they had no choice. There used to be no way to get that information and they had to use fake timers. Bufftracker does not do anything with the effect time. Its all handled by the game. I don't know, maybe. It would require a lot of extra code.

3A) I don't know anything about Srendarr, I've never looked at it. But debuffs & buff alerts are not the same thing. Debuffs are negative effects, buff alerts are effects that you choose to be displayed in a separate bar to alert you when YOU no longer have that effect (to remind you to buff up when buffs wear off). It has nothing to do with effects on other targets (see 3c).

3B) To set an ability/effect for the buff alert (or proc alert) bar you don't drag icons. You right click on an icon in any of the bars and select "Add Buff Alert" or "Add Proc Alert".

3C) At this time Bufftracker does not display effects on other targets.

4) Can you tell me where you got that debuff? What zone/location? So I can try to find those mobs & check it out for myself. All of the textures are given to the addon by the game. The only reason I can think of for a texture not showing up is if there is a bug in the game and its not passing the texture to the function like it is supposed to.

1. Useful for me. Separate window for I can see short effects needed to update like buff alerts.

2. If time require a lot code not necessary to do this.

3. I right click on icons and can't see option to add buff. You mean buff icon or skill icon. I clicked on skill and see only add slot 1,2,... options in menu. How I can get buff icon to clicking on it and add?

4. In Wrothgar. Mobs you can see on screenshot and place. Maybe game bug. I don;t know

On the buff or debuff bar, whenever you receive a buff or debuff, right click on those icons and select "Add Buff Alert" or "Add Proc Alert".
So if you have a buff that you want to add to buff alerts:
Cast that buff on yourself and then right click on its icon(s) on the buff bar and select "Add Buff Alert".
It does not work in the skills window. The reason for this is that many abilities have more than one effect (buff) that you receive from them. If we tried to mark alerts using the icons in the skills window there is no way to get the necessary information about all of the effects that ability gives you.

OK.1. I add one buff as buff alert and it works incorrectly but if I add same buff to proc alert it works fine. I can't get my skill buffs or debuffs on any panel (buff or debuff) so I can't add them as proc or buff alerts. Can I add them manually by adding string to .lua file in SavedVariables or any other method to add them for showing?
2. Fake timers you talking about in one previous posts I think no fake timers in other addon. If you read skills description you can see duration of skills (and they buffs or debuffs) so you can add showing duration time not only graphically.

1) What does it do (or not do) that makes it incorrect? The buff alert bar shows buffs when you DO NOT have them. The proc alert bar shows them when you DO have them. Why can't you get your skill buffs/debuffs to display on the buff bar? Just cast the ability & it will show up on the buff bar when you receive the buff effect (if the ability has one).
2) Yes they all had fake timers because there was no other way to do it and your example of using the duration listed on the skills to create a timer is exactly what I meant by a fake timer (one not handled by the game).

If you post more pictures will you please post them on http://imgur.com/ or somewhere besides that site. I'm not opening any more pictures from that site, it just tries to take over the browser with malware and locks everything up.

1. OK. I will know how it worksnow =) But no buff effect if I cast skills that I wrote - Eruption, Engulfing Flames, Fire Ring, Burning Embers, I think all DK skills will not be showd as buffs or debuffs. I try to do video with it to show you more accuracy.
2. OK. If it do by that way no need to create timers. But maybe you can do other thing. If buff or debuff going to end icon will flashing on screen?

Strange problem with site. Maybe your antivirus or browser think so. Site works correctly. Another example - site samlab.ws (with software) over 2 month was malware by Google Chrome but now it not malware. I will upload screenshots to your site. No difference for me

Ok, I will look at those skills as soon as I get a chance.

Its not actually that site, but that site opens up new tabs & redirects to another site. I have no problems loading the page its when I try to click on an image to see a bigger picture it opens a new tab in the browser that redirects to some other site and gives me some fake web page with a message on it that says I'm infected with something & there is a popup with a button that says I need to click it to download their software to fix the problem. Even if you try to hit ESC to close the popup it just comes right back and you can't close the browser tab.

I tried it more than once on more than one picture and its happened to me in the past with that site too.

BuffTracker does not show buffs or debuffs on enemies, only buffs & debuffs on your character.
Tracking effects on other targets is something I might add after I'm satisfied there are no bugs in the addon.

Those abilities do not have any buff or debuff effects that effect your character. All of those effects are things that effect your target, that's why nothing shows up.
