Text Trials Guide  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.2.8
by: Splat [More]
You probably been in the situation. You get a group together for a trial and not all of you are using discord and not everyone has done it before. That means typing out mechanics for the few people who are not using voice. If you know how slow this can be, then this is the addon for you.

or

You are starting out with trials & want a quick guide in-game that can explain/remind you of specific mechanics without the need to run 2 monitors or switch to desktop to check out a guide mid trial.

Description

Requires LibAddonMenu-2.0

Full text guides for all trials in normal, veteran & hard modes.
Full text guide for veteran Dragonstar Arena
Quickly accessible via in game slash commands.
Quick access on-screen menu so you can instantly put the mechanic or boss you want explained into chat. Also useful as a reminder for which mechanics to mention if you are the trial leader.
Guides can be output to the chat channel of your choice (group, guild, officer etc) or run the guide in 'Personal Mode' so that only you will get the guide output.
Text colour options for 'Personal Mode'.
Damage mitigation settings for the red cp tree are included for the veteran trials.
Fully resizable chat window.

Whilst trials, bosses & mechanics can be done in a variety of ways, these guides are based on the most commonly used techniques and terms. If you want to do a specific mechanic a different way, then you obviously still have the option to put your own method into chat yourself.

How to Use

Trial guides for all current trials are accessed via slash commands, for example,

"/nso" - will open a 'list of commands' for the Normal Sanctum Ophidia trial
"/nso 1" - will put the first part of the guide into chat

"/ttg" - opens the settings menu for the addon
"/ttgui" - toggle the onscreen window on and off

Translations

Currently the guides are output based on your game language and are available in: -

English
German (Partially Translated)

If you would like to assist with translation, then please contact me.
This is not a small job The translation for a new language involves in the region of 33,000 words.

Please update the APIversion correctly, without asuming things, and release an update again then!
It's not 100036 but 101031 as you can find at the Wiki:
https://wiki.esoui.com/APIVersion

Please check your other released addon(s) too, thank you.

Ty for the info on the rChat conflict, trying to squeeze commands into the limited amount of allowed room for a chat message means that some of the text is very near or at the limit of what is allowed and any addon trying to add/adjust anything else to the same block of text will push it over the limit.

The problem is with rChat. The long messages that TTG posts in chat are longer than rChat can currently safely handle. It is a known issue...

Thanks.
You should put the dependency into the addon's description then at the top so the users know what to install for the addon to work:
LibAddonMenu-2.0

Its on the to-do list, is was included the old way as I wanted to make it do something different without writing an entire menu system of my own but I am not using it like that now so it will get changed over when I get a minute.

Update: done

Nice addon but:
Please DO NOT include the libraries hardcoded from your addon's txt files anymore!!!

Your txt file now and wrong/causing probems:
Code:
## Title: |cEFEBBEText Trials Guide 1.1.1|r
## Description: Provides text based trial guides.
## Author: |c009ad6Splat|r
## Version: 1.1.1
## APIVersion: 100029 100030
## OptionalDependsOn: LibAddonMenu-2.0
## SavedVariables: TTGSavedVariables

##
## This Add-on is not created by, affiliated with or sponsored by ZeniMax Media Inc. or its affiliates.
## The Elder Scrolls® and related logos are registered trademarks or trademarks of ZeniMax Media Inc. in the United States and/or other countries.
## All rights reserved
##
## You can read the full terms at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/add-on-terms

Libs\LibStub\LibStub.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\LibAddonMenu-2.0.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\panel.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\submenu.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\button.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\checkbox.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\colorpicker.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\iconpicker.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\custom.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\description.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\dropdown.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\editbox.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\header.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\slider.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\texture.lua
libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0\controls\divider.lua
TextTrialsGuide.lua
TextTrialsGuide.xml
bindings.xml
lang/en.lua
lang/$(language).lua
Your folders now:
Code:
TextTrialsGuide\
Libs\
Libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0
Libs\LibAddonMenu-2.0.lua
-> Here is missing the LibAddonMneu-2.0.txt file for the ingame addon manager to detect this library properly AND being able to load newer versiosn automatically (skip this older version here in the future as a newer library version get's released).
Your txt file new:
Code:
## Title: |cEFEBBEText Trials Guide 1.1.1|r
## Description: Provides text based trial guides.
## Author: |c009ad6Splat|r
## Version: 1.1.1
## APIVersion: 100029 100030
## OptionalDependsOn: LibAddonMenu-2.0
## SavedVariables: TTGSavedVariables

##

## The Elder Scrolls® and related logos are registered trademarks or trademarks of ZeniMax Media Inc. in the United States and/or other countries.

##
## You can read the full terms at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/add-on-terms

TextTrialsGuide.lua
TextTrialsGuide.xml
bindings.xml
lang/en.lua
lang/$(language).lua
Your folders new:
IF you still include the libraries then add them in total containing ALL files and folders from it's zip file, and especially:
Include it's own txt file (here LibAddonMenu-2.0.txt) so the game will recognize and load them properly and only if needed!

Check the ESO Wiki -> libraries for more information.
Thanks

Edit2:
And please make sure your addon's call to libraries are not using the LibStub calls anymore where not needed.
LibStub will be obsolete as the library txt files do the versioning via the ## AddOnVersion: tag now.
So please, if you use libraries, prefere the usage of their global variables mentioned in the lib's documentation.

In your case this is old:
Code:
 local LAM2 = LibStub("LibAddonMenu-2.0")
And new:
Lua Code:
  1. local LAM2 = LibAddonMenu2

A hybrid solution would be (using global var first, than the LibStub call if the global variable is missing):
Lua Code:
  1. local LAM2 = LibAddonMenu2
  2. if not LAM2 and LibStub then LAM2 = LibStub("LibAddonMenu-2.0") end
  3. if not LAM2 then d("Library LibAddonMenu is missing!") return end

As you defined LibAddonMenu-2.0 in your addon's txt file as OptionalDependsOn and not as DependsOn you tell the game your addon will work without this library. If this is wrong you should change this to DependsOn so that the ingame addonmanager will only allow your addon to be enabled if this library is there and activated as well.
