TraitBuddy is an addon that tries to help you easily manage and keep track of what crafting research traits all your characters know. Great for those alt'o'holics out there just like myself.

I have expanded many game tooltips so that the information you want to see is right there on the item where you need it. There is also a custom screen if you prefer to see all the research in one place.

In case you are unsure what an alt is, it is a term to describe another/alternative character.

This addon is for Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworker and Jewellery traits as the other professions don't have traits you can research.

The latest version of addon library LibAddonMenu is required and will need to be installed separately.

Features

Expanded in-game tooltips:
Bag, loot, mail, buyback, trade, guild store search, guild store listings, links placed in chat, quest rewards, crafting, equipped items, and motifs
See the traits your character and your alts know
See the traits your character and your alts are researching
Automatically knows when your research has finished. You don't need to log on to your alts for it to update.
See the motifs your character and your alts know
Research overview screen
Compact movable window
Allows you to view any of your alts by simply picking them from a dropdown or using an icon bar
The screen you see will be just as if you had logged on to that alt
You choose which alts are included/compared
Customisable icon and text colours
Translated into English, French, German, Japanese and Russian
Supports gamepad mode
Ability to filter motifs, unknown, almost completed etc
List of all crafted sets with details of their bonuses and locations
Support for other addons such as Inventory Grid View and Inventory Insight
Icons in inventory
Plus a lot more...

What do the icons mean?
Green Tick
The selected character has researched that trait.

Orange Tick
At least one or more of your characters has completed researching that trait.
But not the currently selected character.

Blue Hourglass
The selected character is researching that trait.

Orange Hourglass
No characters have completed researching that trait but one or more of your characters have started to learn it.

The colours can be customised from the options.

How to set it up

Log in to each character one by one so TraitBuddy can automatically work its magic
Check out the tooltips on items with traits and motifs

There are 3 ways to open the TraitBuddy window

Bind a key
Use the buttons added to the corners of the crafting stations, skill screen and guild store
Use the chat commands /traitbuddy and /traitbuddyoptions

Use any combination you prefer.
Binding a key is done from the normal ESO options screen

Bring up the ESO Options > Controls > Keybindings and scroll down until you see "TraitBuddy Addon"
Choose a key you would like to use to show and hide the window
Personally I bind the ] key

Info for other Addon makers
Detect when mousing over a trait in TraitBuddy
In your onLoad function

That's a new one, not heard of that before.
No, there is no reason I can think of why you cant see motifs above 81.
What language do you play your game in? maybe its somehow connected to that.
Can you try turning off all addons except TraitBuddy and see if the problem goes away?

Hello. Sorry for late response. Language that im using is English. I tried turning off all addons but it didnt work. Also buttons like 'almost complete' and 'unknown motif' not working. I have been using this addon since 2018 and i have never seen these issues get fixed. I always though that its because addon is very old or person who make this addon is not developing anymore. Thank you for the addon though. It is very helpful.

I't won't be a LUA memory related error, that sort of thing was changed by ZOS back with Morrowind. With only some motifs not showing and drop downs not working it is starting to point to your installation of the addon becoming corrupted in some odd way. The addon does work as you can see from the screenshot above. I am the addon creator and have been maintining and improving the addon continually for 5 years. Are there any errors popping up on the screen? Can you compare what you see on your motif screen to that of my screenshot above. Are the buttons etc the same? Any differences. I think at this point is probably better to do a complete addon clear down and reinstall. Close the game. If you use Minion to install your addons Under Installed > Right click TraitBuddy > Uninstall Tick to delete SavedVariables Under Find More > Search for TraitBuddy Install TraitBuddy from me, not the one listed as TraitBuddy 3.1 from Mitsarugi If you install addons manually Delete the TraitBuddy directory Delete the TraitBuddy SavedVariables file Download a fresh version of the addon from me here Don't download TraitBuddy 3.1 from Mitsarugi Log into one ESO character and check if you now see all the motifs. See if the drop downs work again. If all is well, log back into each character again to repopulate the TraitBuddy data

Hello again. I reinstalled the addon. It shows all the motifs now but dropdowns still not working.

Great to hear the addon is loading correctly.

All sections of TraitBuddy work with the characters you choose in the Character Management part of the TraitBuddy options. (see the screenshot below)
To get the dropdowns to work the way you want them to, you first need to select the characters which you want to track motifs for. (section outlined in screenshot)

If you leave all characters tracking motifs then the only way to see who knows which motif is the tooltips and clicking the character selection buttons under the motifs screen.
For example: You choose "Unknown Motif" in the drop down, then click the buttons to view other characters and you will see the icons change, and change colour.

I personally don't want to collect motifs on all my characters so I only track one character for motifs.

While you are in looking at the character management section you should also choose which characters you want to track Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworking and Jewellery on too.

Added Thorn Legion motifs, number 90 Added Hazardous Alchemy motifs, number 91 Using ESO icons for light and medium armour Removed all custom icons Addon size reduced Data utility code for motifs refactored The data for these 2 motifs was in-game so I added it. I have done a lot of testing on the changes with the motif code but let me know if I missed something. I also added motif code to check a lot of the motif data to ensure all the motifs data is correct. This code is not automatically run, it is something which can be fired off via a command.

That is because you have installed version 3.1 of TraitBuddy by Mitsarugi dated 5 years ago.
The file TraitBuddyData.lua is not in TraitBuddy any more.
Uninstall TraitBuddy completely.
Download my latest version.

If it is still erroring at that point, you will have to clear the Saved Variables for TraitBuddy and log into each character again to repopulate them.
