ParlezPlus v1.3

Description:

ParlezPlus improves NPC dialogs by keeping track of the conversation, presenting the player with his and the NPCs previous responses instead of discarding the NPCs dialogue text and simply showing the new response as in vanilla TESO.

This mod aims to improve chatter and quest conversations with non-player characters. It is fully customizable and allows the user to enhance dialog texts to her/his specific needs.
It started as a tiny QoL Addon but currently evolves to a customizable conversation & dialog UI mod.
Features:
  • have real conversations with NPCs by keeping track of their and your responses
  • customize the Addon to your needs
  • sane default configuration to start playing right away

Settings & Customization:
  • Delayed response time
  • Player & NPC Dialog text colors
  • Show/Hide Player & NPC names
  • Show/Hide dialog title
  • Display only NPCs responses
  • Display hotkey before dialog option
  • Customizable text formatting

Error...

It seems the latest version is causing the Addon Settings menu to crash on access. The cause appears to be the outdated use of embedded libraries, specifically LibAddonMenu which is at version 29 in this addon but up to 31 on esoui.com.

To resolve this I HIGHLY recommend eliminating LibStub and embedded libraries, and directing users to download LibAddonMenu manually or with Minion (90% will have it standalone installed already due to most addons requiring it).

To remove the embedded libraries and update this addon:
  • Delete the Lib and (optionally) the .git folder. The later doesn't need to be there but you may have intentionally kept it for reference?
  • Open the manifest (ParlezPlus.txt) and change ## OptionalDependsOn: LibAddonMenu-2.0 to ## DependsOn: LibAddonMenu-2.0>=31 and delete every line that starts with "Lib\" then save.
  • Open Defines.lua and change line 2 from local LAM = LibStub("LibAddonMenu-2.0") to local LAM = LibAddonMenu2 and save.

Here is a temp link to a converted version of your latest upload for reference.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your heads up! Currently LAM is embedded in this Addon so I think this isn't necessary, is it? But I will look into removing it and requiring it in "DependsOn".

Noticed today that player responses no longer show up in the dialogue, despite the option for it being ticked. Even tried re-activating display of player name to see if that'd make a difference, but nope :<

I did update a couple of addons this morning, but none that interact with dialogue as far as I know. But it worked as late as yesterday... Though now that I think about it I'm not sure if that was before or after the client update. (I wouldn't think something like that would change stuff enough to make this addon stop working fully, but on the other hand I'm not a coder either ^^; )

Azurah and ParlezPlus work wonderfully together! However, I'm not sure if you're aware of this issue, but any adjustments to the dialogue frame's position appear to be resetting every time I alt-tab from the game. Possibly may reset whenever I log out/in but I haven't tested this yet either. I'm not sure if this is an incompatability issue with any other mods I'm running, but the Azurah page has comments describing the same issue. Thought I'd let you know anyway.

I wanted to pass along that in the latest version of Azurah I added support for moving the dialogue frame, so you can move it down lower for when long dialogue scrolls up over all of the screen, so you can keep it all in the same screenshot. You can also scroll the mover to adjust the width of the frame the text will wrap around.

Also happy to report this is fully compatible with Free Dialog Camera.
Azurah looks incredibly useful and works like a charm, thanks for showing this!
It's my biggest gripe that the dialogue text kinda just disappears offscreen, but I'm currently still digging my way through the api docs.

Very happy to hear about the compatibility, it sadly doesn't seem to work if used with Immersive Interactions.

Haven't thought about compatibility with other addons yet, I will definetly look into this!

Cool! This would make it easier to take screenshots of lore.

Fascinating

This seems like really interesting addon. I would like to know how likely it is to conflict with the Immersive Interactions.

If not, I will have to make a choice!
