No, that's not my point. My point is that you don't need to localize it because it's already localized in the base game. Just don't overwrite the built-in localization, which is what your existing code is doing.

The original code from ZOS (esoui/ingame/skills/keyboard/zo_skills.lua) is:
Code:
self.availablePointsLabel:SetText(zo_strformat(SI_SKILLS_POINTS_TO_SPEND, availablePoints))
All you need to do is append the skill point total to the end of that. SI_SKILLS_POINTS_TO_SPEND is base-game. You shouldn't be replacing it at all. You should be adding to it instead, if SSP is present. Again, look at the code that I provided.

Thanks for the update, but you ignored the third point in my post.

You have this line of code:
Code:
local SI_SKILL_POINT_TOTALS = "Points to spend: |cffffff<<1>>/<<2>>|r"
Why are you hard-coding an English string in the code of your addon?

This bypasses all localization, so while non-English users without SSP will see the correct label in their own language, users with SSP will see "Points to spend" instead of whatever the correct string is in their language. This is completely wrong! And unnecessary, esp. since it's so much easier to just append the new data to the existing built-in string. Also, as I noted, SI_ constants, by convention, are not supposed to be hard-coded strings.

Get rid of SI_SKILL_POINT_TOTALS entirely. Use the existing SI_SKILLS_POINTS_TO_SPEND to format the base for both versions. And for players without SSP, show that base string. And for players with SSP, just append the total to the end of that base string.

As I suggested earlier, the following code will work. You can copy it verbatim if you wish:
Code:
	local availablePoints = SKILL_POINT_ALLOCATION_MANAGER:GetAvailableSkillPoints()
	local pointsLabel = zo_strformat(SI_SKILLS_POINTS_TO_SPEND, availablePoints)
	if SSP then
		pointsLabel = string.format("%s/%d", pointsLabel, SSP.GetTotalSpentPoints() + availablePoints)
	end
	self.availablePointsLabel:SetText(pointsLabel)

I just updated to the new version of SkyShards and noticed that the SpentSkillPoints display is incorrect and doesn't match what I had with my own personal Skyshards+SSP patch. After reviewing the code, I see that there are a few issues here...
  1. You should not be accessing SSP's internal data structures. The cache is not the correct way to get the total spent points; you should be using SSP's public API. Specifically, SSP.GetTotalSpentPoints().
  2. The total that you get from SSP is the total spent points, not the total points. You need to add availablePoints to that.
  3. By making your own label for the SSP version of the display, you break localization. I.e., you get your hard-coded English label in all other languages. You should be appending the "/total" to the existing string, rather than making a new one entirely. (Also, the convention for constants named with a SI_ prefix are that they are numeric string IDs, for localization, not actual strings.)

Here's what I had been using in my own patch of SkyShards:
Code:
	local availablePoints = SKILL_POINT_ALLOCATION_MANAGER:GetAvailableSkillPoints()
	local pointsLabel = zo_strformat(SI_SKILLS_POINTS_TO_SPEND, availablePoints)
	if SSP then
		pointsLabel = string.format("%s/%d", pointsLabel, SSP.GetTotalSpentPoints() + availablePoints)
	end
	self.availablePointsLabel:SetText(pointsLabel)

Deadlands DLC data from PTS

Here is the data for Deadlands DLC from the PTS server (I have no idea if the maps can't be changed before the release)

Code:
[3140] = true,  -- Deadlands Skyshard Hunter

skyshardsData["deadlands"] = {
	--Deadlands
	["u32deadlandszone_base"] = {                   --Deadlands
		{ 0.4641, 0.6774, 3140, 1 },
		{ 0.7115, 0.3896, 3140, 2 },
		{ 0.6565, 0.3027, 3140, 3 },
		{ 0.1455, 0.5360, 3140, 5, 2 }, -- Brandfire Reformatory
		{ 0.8935, 0.2685, 3140, 6, 2 }, -- False Martyrs' Folly
        },
	["u32_dreaded_refuge_ext_base"] = {
		{ 0.2632, 0.2483, 3140, 5, 2 },
		},
	["u32_folly_delve_base"] = {
		{ 0.7549, 0.5525, 3140, 6, 2 },
		},

        --The Shambles
	["u32_theshambles_base"] = {                   --The Shambles
		{ 0.4894, 0.5019, 3140, 4 },
	},
        --The Shambles - Location map
	["u32_fargravezone_base"] = {                   --The Shambles - Location map
		{ 0.6020, 0.3470, 3140, 4 },
	},
}

Didn't know you were asking for a screenshot, but then I have difficulty understanding people even on the best of days. Code, and cats, are much more understandable to me.

Anyway, I am glad you put in a better fix, mine was not really optimal I think (something about concatenating vs string.format?). I do like this addon, so I'm glad I could help a bit. Primarily because of the ability to just click the skyshard and have it put the marker down (unlike map pins or destinations), but also to see my overall skyshard progress in a convenient location.

I did an isolated test (just the two mods together) and it was occurring (the bug in question). There are no settings for spentskillpoints. The setting in the skyshards addon you refer to, oddly, is the recap setting, set to basic, which disables the entire skillpoint recap, thus takes out a desirable portion of this mod

I have managed to get handling to work by adding the following (above the later replaced portion):
local spentpoints=""
if SSP and SSP.cache then spentpoints=zo_strformat("|cFFFFFF\/<<1>>|r",SSP.cache.total) end
and replacing
self.availablePointsLabel:SetText(zo_strformat(SI_SKILLS_POINTS_TO_SPEND, availablePoints))
with
self.availablePointsLabel:SetText(zo_strformat(SI_SKILLS_POINTS_TO_SPEND, availablePoints)..spentpoints)

tiny conflict

like the addon, does good. unfortunately, it has a small conflict with SpentSkillPoints, in that it overrides the total skill points spent section (to add skyshard info, of course). I brought it up over there but it's something that needs to be handled in this addon. thankfully, getting the information is easy enough, it's stored in SSP.cache.total, so it's just a matter of testing that it exists and adding it where appropriate

unfortunately, I'm struggling to wrap my brain around the string handling, so that's as far as I can get right now.

Could we get an option that toggles the "Pin color for skyshards in overworld" to also work for skyshards in delves/public dungeons?
Or perhaps another option to color skyshards in delves/public dungeons, so that we can use different colors for each? (overland vs delves, etc)

If it didn't work then no idea what you may have done. I see either known or unknown icons depending on which I choose.

Of course that is possible. I have people on Linux and PC do that all the time when they manually install it. They unzip the file and copy the file incorrectly.

I don't need any screen shots. Even if you did I could post one of it working for me. That would get us nowhere. Simply put the install didn't work, reinstall it.

Question wrong icon

hi, I used Skyshards like 6 months without any problems.
since the Blackwood Update I have the problem that I can't see the new Skyshards.
I can see the full white icon if I use "done" but not the new Skyshards.
If I use my mouse on map (I checked a position of one I know) it opens the description of them but I see no icon on the map. if it is done I see it.
*yes I know the filters to activate the new or done icons and yes all Libs are new and okay.
*I tryed the same again with only this addon that no other addons can overwrite anything.

is it possible that the addon can't use or can't find the icon to show it on the map?

Then you did not install it properly, don't have updated libraries, don't have the requirements active, or whatever it is. I won't know because I'm not at your house.

Please scroll down and read what I said to Darena_Bryant. I explain exactly what to look for once you log into the game and where to look. There is a video also to show how mods can be active on one char and not others. That is all general Q&A and game use that doesn't pertain to the mod itself.
