There's a setting for the waypoint, but it doesn't show up on the minimap border or on the map when close.

"insects" also includes bottles?

When you turn off the indicator for insects, all small interactables have no indicator: bottles, coins, weapons, etc., but they can still be picked up. Perhaps just remove it for the known insect names?
